He is the son of Charles Wesley Typper Blake of Morrison's Cove, Bedford (now Blair) Co., PA, and Sarah Ann Taylor of Hopewell Twp., Bedford Co., PA.

Ada Ellen Crow was born November 5, 1866, in Mechanicville, Cedar Co., IA, and died December 21, 1941, in San Diego, San Diego Co., CA, at age 75. Buried in Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, Los Angeles Co., CA. She is the daughter of Aquilla Belt Crow of Harrison, Kosciusko Co., IN, and Mary Susannah Harrison of Marion, Hancock Co., OH.

Buried in Higginsville City Cemetery, Higginsville, Lafayette Co., MO. Married (2) December 19, 1916, in Los Angeles Co., CA, to Evelyn I. Miller: Born 1902 in Pennsylvania; Died Unknown. The Coroner's autopsy indicated Charles was an Iron Worker living at 149 3rd Street, and died due to Chronic Valvoulor disease of the heart and general dropsy. A telegram was sent to 330 7th Street, San Pedro.
  2. Harriet Dove "Hattie" Blake: Born November 28, 1897, in Des Moines, Polk Co., IA; Died December 29, 1988, in Carmichael, Sacramento Co., CA (age 91). Buried in Roseville Cemetery, Roseville, Placer Co., CA. Married December 13, 1913, in Santa Ana, Orange Co., CA, to Harold Leeds "Hap" Croy: Born December 2, 1894, in Perris Valley, Riverside Co., CA; Died October 11, 1954, in Roseville, Placer Co., CA (age 59). Buried in Roseville Cemetery, Roseville, Placer Co., CA. Harold Leeds Croy Jr. was born October 4, 1919, in Pima Co., AZ.
  3. Theodore Roosevelt "Ted" Blake: Born October 3, 1902, in Kansas City, Jackson Co., MO; Died April 27, 1971, in a hospital, San Diego, San Diego Co., CA (age 68). Buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, San Diego, San Diego Co., CA. Married about 1932 to Athice Marie "Ada" Brandelli: Born January 1, 1912, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Died March 21, 2003, in San Diego Co., CA(age 91). Buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, San Diego, San Diego Co., CA. Daughter: Sister Mary Theodore "Theo" Blake, CSJ, of San Diego, CA, who was born March 2, 1933, in San Diego Co., CA; Died July 19, 2006, in Torrence, CA (age 73). Buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, Culver City, Los Angeles Co., CA. Harlean Claudette Blake, mother's maiden name is Brandelli.

James Blake, of Kansas City, is enjoying a brief summer visit with the home folks. He met with a painful accident recently - one which came near proving fatal. While crossing a crowed street, the electric car ran him down and crippled one of his feet. He has been off duty nearly a month on account of the accident.

Blake (age 39) born in Iowa to Pennsylvania-born parents is a commissioner for wholesale vegetables living at 1400 Troost Avenue, 9th Ward, Kansas City, Jackson Co., MO. Living with him is his wife of 22 years, Ada E. Blake (age 42) born in Iowa to Indiana and Ohio-born parents, with all three of the children born to her still alive. The children are all unmarried and living at home: Charles A. Blake (age 19) born in Iowa who is an actor in a theater; Harriett D. Blake (age 12) born in Iowa; and Theodore R. Blake (age 8) born in Missouri. There are also two roomers in the house.

Charles A. Blake died November 21, 1919, at Central East Hospital, San Francisco, San Francisco Co., CA, at age 29.

Jefferson friends just recently learned of the death of James Blake on the 20th of February in San Diego, Calif. He was born in Bedford, Pa. and came to Jefferson with his parents when a small child. His burial took place at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Whittier, Calif., Feb. 24th. He is survived by a son and daughter and his wife.

Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, Los Angeles Co., CA, said there is a James H. Blake died February 20, 1953 and interred February 25, 1953 (age 77).


 Harlean Claudette Blake (a.k.a. Mary Theodore "Theo" Blake, CSJ) died July 19, 2006, in Torrence, CA (age 73). Buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, Culver City, Los Angeles Co., CA.

Sr. Mary Theodore Blake, CSJ

Funeral Mass was celebrated July 25 at Carondelet Center, Brentwood, for St. Joseph of Carondelet Sister Mary Theodore ("Theo") Blake, who died July 19, 2006.

A native of San Diego, she graduated from Cathedral Girls' High School before joining the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1954. From 1963 to 1969, she taught seventh grade at three local schools: Holy Cross in Los Angeles, American Martyrs in Manhattan Beach and St. Catherine of Siena in Laguna Beach. Later, she served as an elementary school principal for 22 years in Southern and Northern California.

As an administrator, Sister Blake had an easy, friendly manner of dealing with students, staff and parents. According to her fellow religious sisters, she was a "happy, joyful person who loved life and lived it to the full."

Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery.
