After a lingering illness and more than six months of patient and painful suffering, Alfred King gave up the struggle last Sunday evening, September 8, to pass thru Glory's evening gate and walk in paradise.  Mr. King was born in the state of Wisconsin, April 9, 1851, and at the time of his death was 78 years, 4 months and 29 days old. When but a child of two years he came with his parents to Goodhue county, Minnesota, and later moved to Paynesville, where he first met, wooed, and on December 29, 1884, wed his now bereaved widow, at that time, Miss Hattie Maria Harris.
