Charles George Gerhardt was born January 24, 1864, in the Village of Yellow Springs, Miami Twp., Greene Co., OH, and died December 23, 1923, in the Village of Yellow Springs, Miami Twp., Greene Co., OH, at age 59. Buried in Glen Forest Cemetery, Yellow Springs, Greene Co., OH. He is the son of Johann Gottlieb Gerhardt and Dorothea "Dora" (Whiele) Gebauer.

Ella Mae Holverstott was born September 1, 1869, in Miami Twp., Greene Co., OH, and died from Pneumonia, January 9, 1946, in the Village of Yellow Springs, Miami Twp., Greene Co., OH, at age 76. Buried in Glen Forest Cemetery, Yellow Springs, Greene Co., OH. She is the daughter of Joshua M. Holverstott, and Sarah C. Wolf.

Charles George Gerhardt and Ella Mae (Holverstott) Gerhardt had four children:

  1. Floyd Albert Gerhardt: Born July 7, 1904, in the Village of Yellow Springs, Miami Twp., Greene Co., OH; Died November 27, 1974, in Beachwood, Ocean Co., NJ (age 70). Engaged about 1930 to Evelyn Frances Gooby: Born December 6, 1907, in Boston, MA; Died October 4, 1996, in Unknown (age 88). She is the daughter of George Edward Gooby, and Susannah L. " Lilly" Garland. Lived in New Jersey in 1936. Married September 3, 1935, in Manhattan, New York City, NY, to Harriet Anne Estelle: Born December 28, 1910, in Toms River, Ocean Co., NJ; Died October 19, 2004, in New Jersey (age 93). Harriet's parents are Everett Estelle, and Caroline Attison.   Parents are Harry Ben Shockey and Laura M. Bachtell.             Evelyn Frances Gooby married August 2, 1933, in Sanbornville, NH, to John Walsh: Born Unknown; Died Unknown.
  2. William Russell Gerhardt: Born August 7, 1906, in the Village of Yellow Springs, Miami Twp., Greene Co., OH; Died January 21, 1967, at Greene Memorial Hospital, Xenia, Greene Co., OH (age 60). Buried in Glen Forest Cemetery, Yellow Springs, Greene Co., OH.
  3. Dorothy M. Gerhardt: Born 1907, in the Village of Yellow Springs, Miami Twp., Greene Co., OH; Died February 23, 1936, at a hospital, Brooklyn, Kings Co., NY (about age 28). Buried in Glen Forest Cemetery, Yellow Springs, Greene Co., OH. Never married. Lived in Dayton, OH, in 1931, and in Washington, DC, in 1932.
  4. Helen M. Gerhardt: Born about 1911, in the Village of Yellow Springs, Miami Twp., Greene Co., OH; Died November 3, 2005, in Friedens, Somerset Co., PA (age 93). Buried in Glen Forest Cemetery, Yellow Springs, Greene Co., OH. Married April 1, 1934, in Unknown, to Leroy David "Roy" Mason: Born June 5, 1903, in Kings Mills, Warren Co., OH; Died December 10, 1992, in Tacoma, Pierce Co., WA (age 89). Lived in Nebraska in 1936, and in Everett, WA, in 1967.

Helen Margaret Gebauer was born October 7, 1845, in Kreis, Ohlau, Silesia (Slazen), Prussia, Germany.

On August 6, 1856, Gottlieb Gerhardt, of German Nationality (age 28) immigrated to the United States.


 

Gottlieb and Charles Gerhardt (both of German Nationality, age 28) departed first from Germany, and then from Le Havre, France, and arrived at the Port of New York on August 6, 1856, aboard the  S. S. Rising Sun.


The 1860 U. S. Census taken on August 1, 1860, shows Gotleib Gerhart (age 34) born in Prussia, and with personal estate of $300 is a Furnace Laborer, and is living in Vernon Twp., Scioto Co., OH. Living with him are: Dorothea Gerhart (age 41) born in Prussia; Helen Gabauer (age 15) born in Prussia; and Anna Gabauer (age 12) born in Prussia.

Gottlieb Gerhardt and Doretha Weiler were married about 1863 in Lawrence Co., OH.

GUARDIAN APPOINTED

L. L. Taylor has been appointed guardian of William R. Gerhardt, Dorothy Gerhardt and Helen Gerhardt, minors, in Probate Court with $1,000 bond.


Floyd Albert Gerhardt and Evelyn Frances Gooby were engaged to be married about May, 1930, in New York.

YELLOW SPRINGS

Friends here have received cards announcing the engagement of Miss Evelyn Frances Gooby and Mr. Floyd Albert Gerhardt, New York. Mr. Gerhardt is a son of Mrs. Ella Gerhardt of this city and lived here until a few years ago, when he went to New York where he has been engaged in business.


Dorothy M. Gerhardt died February 23, 1936, at a hospital, Brooklyn, Kings Co., NY, at about age 28. Buried in Glen Forest Cemetery, Yellow Springs, Greene Co., OH.

Yellow Springs

The funeral services for Miss Dorothy Gerhardt, were held at the Littleton Funeral Home Thursday afternoon, with burial in Glen Forest Cemetery. The deceased died at a hospital in New York Sunday afternoon. The remains arrived here Tuesday. The survivors are her mother, Mrs. Ella Gerhardt, two brothers, Floyd of New York, William at home and one sister, Mrs. Roy Mason of Nebraska. The friends and relatives from a distance who attended the funeral services were, Floyd Gerhardt, of New York; Mrs. Roy Mason of Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bickett and daughter Helen of Watertown, Wisc.; Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Oliver and Mr. Jack Wissell and son, Junior,, of Cincinnati, and Mr. and Mrs. Mason of Mason.


William Russell Gerhardt died January 21, 1967, at Greene Memorial Hospital, Xenia, Greene Co., OH, at age 60. Buried in Glen Forest Cemetery, Yellow Springs, Greene Co., OH.

OBITUARIES

William Gerhardt

YELLOW SPRINGS - Services for William Gerhardt, 60, of Comfort Inn, Xenia Ave., who died Saturday at 1:30 a. m. at Greene Memorial Hospital, Xenia, will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p. m. at Jackson, Lytle and Coffman Funeral Home here. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 and burial will be in Glen Forest Cemetery, Yellow Springs. A native of Yellow Springs, he was the son of Charles and Ella Gerhardt. He had been an employe of Antioch College for many years. Survivors include a brother, Floyd Gerhardt of Beechwood, N. Y., and a sister, Mrs. Helen Mason of Everett, Wash. Rev. Charles Rader of St. Paul's Methodist Church in Springfield will be in charge of the services.


Floyd Albert Gerhardt died November 27, 1974, in Beachwood, Ocean Co., NJ, at age 70.

FLOYD A. GERHARDT

BEACHWOOD - Floyd A. Gerhardt, 70, of Forepeak Ave., died Wednesday. Mr. Gerhardt has lived here since 1934. He was a radio engineer for 40 years with AT&T Radio Ship to Shore Station. Surviving are his wife, H. Ann, and a sister, Mrs. Helen Mason, Seattle, Washington. The Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, Toms River, is in charge of the arrangements.
