Funeral services were conducted at the Ike Lunde residence
at one o'clock on Monday afternoon for Mrs. Ella Van Vorst Latterell who
passed away there at 3:15 o'clock Saturday morning, August 2nd at the age
of 80 years. Mrs. Latterell was the mother of Mrs. Lunde, and she had made
her home with the family for the past few years. Mrs. Irene Latterell
conducted the final rites, and Miss Gladys Latterell rendered appropriate
musical selections. Interment followed at the Paynesville Cemetery with
burial in the family lot. John Chishom, J. N. Bosworth, R. J. Erickson, W.
S. Johnson, Walter Olson and Elmer Gesne served as pallbearers. Ella Harris
was born in Minnesota on February 24, 1861, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John
Harris. She spent her girlhood in the vicinity of Sauk Rapids, later moving
to Lintonville (Regal) with her parents. She was united in marriage to
George Van Vorst in 1884, and they lived on a farm in the Regal community
until about 1902 when the family moved to Paynesville. Mr. Van Vorst passed
away in 1907. Mrs. Van Vorst was married to Ham Latterell of Foley in 1930
and lived on a farm in that community until a few years ago when her
husband died. She has resided with the Lunde family practically ever since.
The deceased is survived by one daughter, Mrs Ike Lunde of this city; three
sons, Joe and Harold Van Vorst of Paynesville and Bert of Coulee, N. D.; two
sisters, Mrs Hattie King of Hewitt and Mrs. Walter King of Redwood Falls;
and two brothers, John Harris of Howard Lake and Ernest Harris of
Litchfield. She also leaves nine grandchildren. Those who came from out of
town for the funeral included Mrs. Carl Zutter and daughter, Zalia Ruth,
and Miss Bayer of Bertha; Arthur King and Mrs. Hattie King of Hewitt; Bert
Van Vorst of Coulee, N. D.; Mrs. Walter King and son, Gordon of Redwood
Falls; Mrs. Gene Nichols and son, Richard, Mrs. Wm. Longwwell and Robins Van
Vorst of Minneapolis; Miss Vivian Lunde of St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Marcus
Mikkelson of Sunburg, Mrs. Ted Lunde and Elmer Evans of Willmar; Mr. and
Mrs. John Harris of Howard Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. Ernetst Harris and Mr. and
Mrs. Isenberg of Litchfield.
