Vincent C. Cain, 89 years, four months and 29 days, of Mt. Vernon, died 3:15 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, at Residential Living Center in Mt. Vernon. He was born Tuesday, June 1, 1926, in Minneapolis, the son of Charles Patrick and Gladys Emelia (Freeburg) Cain. He married Ann Hollins on April 6, 1963, in Nashville, Tenn.; she preceded him in death on Aug. 28, 2008. He is survived by daughter, Judith Ann Hinds and husband Thomas of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; son, Steven Cain and wife Beth of Havelock, N.C.; four grandchildren, Brittany Marie Cain of Havelock, N.C. and Emelia, Alexandria and Franklin Hinds of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother, Donald Edward Cain. Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Belmont Cemetery in Allensville, Ky. Interment will be at Belmont Cemetery in Allensville, Ky. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at Cook-Webb Funeral Home in Guthrie, Ky. Vincent served our country in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946 in World War II. He later joined the United States Army where he retired as a major. He was a political science instructor at Rend Lake College and was a member of the Church of Christ in Centralia. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid woodworker. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Edgar and Ida B. Hollins Scholarship of Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn., and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864. Vernon, Illinois of natural causes.He was born June 1, 1926 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of the late Charles Patrick and Gladys Emelia Freeburg Cain. He was a member of the Centralia Church of Christ in Centralia, Illinois. He served in the United States Navy where he was a WWII vet. He also served in the United States Army where he retired as an Army Major.He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gladys Cain; his wife, Ann Hollins Cain and one brother, Donald Edward Cain. He is survived by one son, Steven Cain (Beth) of Havelock, North Carolina; one daughter , Judith Ann Hinds (Thomas) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and four grandchildren.Visitation with the Cain family will be on Friday morning from 9 until 10 a.m., at the Cook-Webb Funeral Home in Guthrie, Kentucky. There will be a graveside service following the visitation at the Belmont Cemetery in Allensville, Kentucky with Carl Goad officiating.
