Gene “Toby” Tesch

July 25, 1940 - December 30, 2016

Gene “Toby” Tesch, age 76, of Watertown, passed away peacefully in his home on December 30, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Rodney Warnecke officiating. Burial with military rites will take place at Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Hafemeister Funeral Home and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Rainbow Hospice. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Online condolences may be made at www.hafemeisterfh.com. Toby was born in Watertown on July 25, 1940 to Leonard and Anita (Mallow) Tesch. He was a 1959 graduate of Watertown High School and served 4 years in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Topeka, Kansas and Goosebay, Labrador where he met many Eskimos. On February 24, 1962 he married the love of his life, Susan C. Bruss at First Congregational Church in Watertown. They resided in many cities throughout the United States before settling in Watertown where they raised 3 beautiful children. Toby worked for Nabisco for 26 years and Glenn’s Market for 16 years. He was a simple man who was loved by all. He was patient and kind and loved his children and grandchildren immensely. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown and served on many boards there. He was also a member of the Watertown American Legion Post #189. He is survived by his wife, Susan Tesch; two children, Jennifer (Michael) Saniter of Watertown and Patricia (Jack) Gurholt of La Cresent, MN; four grandchildren: Brock Saniter, Ellie Saniter, John Gurholt and Jason Gurholt as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Allen Tesch in 1989; parents; three sisters: Anita “Trudy” Karnitz, Myrtle Kephart and Lorraine Bartig as well as two brothers, LeRoy Tesch and Robert Tesch. He was the last member of his immediate family. The family wishes to thank Pastor Warnecke for all of his visits and Rainbow Hospice for their compassionate care of the whole family. Finally they’d like to thank Glenn Roberts for making Toby’s favorite oyster stew early for him.

Richard John Theder

Richard J. Theder, age 75, of Hayward, died Friday, January 8, 2016 at Hayward Area Memorial Hospital. Richard John Theder was born December 13, 1940 in Watertown, WI, the son of Clarence and Angeline (Gritzner) Theder. He grew up and graduated from Watertown High School. After graduating he began working for Eaton Corporation (formerly Durant) for 42 years until his retirement in 2002. Richard was united in marriage to Elfi Wessollek on September 1, 1962 in Watertown. He enjoyed volunteering for Fishing Has No Boundaries and was always helping his neighbors and friends. Richard enjoyed spending the past 55 plus years hunting and fishing with family, friends and the “Moose Lake Swampers”. He is survived by his wife Elfi; sons Scott (Deanna) Theder, Donald (Kristi) Theder both of Lebanon, WI, Derek (Leah) Theder of Hayward; daughter Teresa (Terry) Triana of Watertown; grandchildren Tera (Mike) Cuthrell, Lyndsey (Craig) Tilot, Korin Kuehl, Melissa Theder, Brandon (Lauren) Theder, Ryan Theder, Jonah Theder, Adam Theder & Lucas Theder; great grandchildren Zoe Cuthrell, Tiahna Tilot, Teagan Tilot, Charlotte Theder, Ella Cuthrell, Lucy Cuthrell & Averil Tilot; brothers Roger Theder, Joseph Theder; sister Sandra Theder. Lifelong member of Madisonville Presbyterian Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, life long member of Appaloosa Horse Club and American Quarter Horse Association. Supporter of MACA (Monroe Council for the Arts). She was a member and supporter of Hopewell Springs Community. Preceded in death by husband, John M. Carpenter; parents, Alfred and Joyce Thomas. Joann D. (Tietz) Olson received a special call on March 12, 2021. Heaven was in need of another Guardian Angel, a job she couldn't refuse. Her new job takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, baking, cooking, gardening, watching and feeding the birds, hunting turkeys and watching over her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends with a strong and endless love. Joann Doris Olson was born in the Town of Lebanon on March 9, 1941 to Reinhard and Viola (Eske) Tietz. She had one brother Robert (Judy) Tietz. On June 13, 1959, she married the late Kenneth Christian at Cross Lutheran Church, Ixonia, WI. On June 2, 2000, she married the love of her life, Edward L. Olson at the Shepherd Chapel in Gravette, AR. She will be remembered and loved always by her husband, Edward; her six children, Gordon (Nancy) Christian, Connie (Kevin) Field, Dean (Donna) Christian, Audra (Kent) Uttech, Shawn (Curt) Vogel, and Kelly (Brock) Cotter; her grandchildren, Amber, Colton, Nick, Nathan, and Bryce Christian, Tyler, Austin, and Kristen Field, Kaylee and Kendra Uttech, Mason and Chase Vogel, and Annaliese, Owen, Evie, Nora, Beckett, and Rosalee Cotter; five great-grandchildren, Titus, Sawyer, Gauge, Finley, and Wyatt; four step-children, Darren (Peggy) Olson, Daniel (Andrea) Olson, Jason (Autumn) Olson, and Pam Olson; five step-grandchildren, Kayla, Kourtney, Katrina, Ben, and Madison; and two step-great-grandchildren, Liam and Zayden. She was employed at Lutheran Homes of Oconomowoc for many years and loved the residents that were entrusted in her care dearly. Her loved ones would like to thank the staff of ProHealth AngelsGrace Hospice, Christian Family Solutions, and Home Instead for their exemplary care and kindness, through Joann's journey to her heavenly home. God's blessing to Amber for her, for the use of her home and loving care of grandmother. Mrs. Janice Uttech Webber, 63, of 6004 Turnberry Court, died Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at her residence. Mrs. Webber was a member of First Lutheran Church and had resided in Greensboro for the past 10 years having moved from Binghamton, N.Y. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Kenneth R. Kube

WATERLOO – Kenneth R. Kube, 63, of N9165 Riverview Drive, Waterloo, died on Saturday, April 17, 2004, at the home of his sister, Karen Holzhueter. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown with the Rev. Timothy Blauert of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Richwood officiating. Burial will be in Richwood Cemetery. Visitation is at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to St. Marl’s Lutheran Church in Richwood or the charity of one’s choice. Kenneth was born Nov. 16, 1940, in the town of Shields, Dodge County, son of Clarence and Lorraine (Borchardt) Kube. He was a 1958 graduate of Watertown High School and also a graduate of Madison Business College. After graduating from college, he lived in the Milwaukee area and was co-owner of Stat-Tab, a data processing business. About 20 years ago, Kenneth moved to Reno and Las Vegas, where he had also been employed in the data processing business. In later years, he made his home in Boulder City, Nev., where he had been employed at Pizza Hut. He recently moved back to Wisconsin to live with his sister, Karen. Surviving are a sister, Karen Holzhueter of Waterloo; two brothers, Marlin (Lorraine) Kube and David (Sylvia) Kube, both of Watertown; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; a brother-in-law, Morris Holzhueter; two nieces and a nephew.

Roger, Mary Uttech celebrate anniversary

Roger and Mary Uttech celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Roger and the former Mary Kay Beschta were married on Aug. 8, 1964, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Watertown. The couple have three children, Jeffrey (Linda) of Menomonee Falls, Anthony (Kristin) of Sun Prairie and Nicole of Santee, Calif. They also have four grandchildren. The couple celebrated their anniversary with a reception and dinner for family and friends at the Moose Lodge in Watertown. "Now on to the next 50 years."

Mary K. Uttech

Mary K. Uttech, age 73, of Watertown, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. Mary Katherine was born on Jan. 19, 1945, in Appleton, the daughter of Vincent and Mary (Hackett) Beschta. On Aug. 8, 1964, Mary was united in marriage with Roger Uttech at St. Bernard’s Church in Watertown. Mary and Roger celebrated 54 years of marriage. Together they raised one daughter, Nicole Uttech of Watertown, and two sons, Jeffrey (Linda) of Menomonee Falls and Anthony (Kristin) Uttech of Sun Prairie. Mary was employed at the Watertown Regional Medical Center for 31 years, retiring in 2007 as the central service supervisor. During her free time, Mary enjoyed beading, having made many beautiful necklaces and bracelets, and traveling. She especially enjoyed trips to the western United States and Florida. Mary enjoyed lunches and shopping with her sisters and friends. Mary is survived by her husband and children; sisters, Nancy Beschta of Watertown, Margaret Cole of Milwaukee, Marlene Beschta of Hales Corners and Laurie (Rick) Soike of Greendale; and brothers Larry (Mary Jane) Beschta of Fox Point and David (Ellyn) Beschta of Oconomowoc. Mary is further survived by grandchildren Emmalee, Isabelle and Grayson Uttech, all of Sun Prairie, and Vincent Uttech of Watertown. Mary was preceded in death by her parents. Friends and relatives may call to pay their respects at the Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home in Watertown on Thursday from 4-6 p.m. and on Friday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Watertown from 10 until 11 a.m., at which time a Mass of Christian burial will be held with the Very Rev. Patrick Wendler officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials in Mary’s name be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the charity of one’s choice.
