Richard H. Strege

June 12, 1939 - January 23, 2022

Richard Henry Strege, 82, of Jefferson, passed away on January 23, 2022 at Alden Estates in Jefferson. Richard had been a resident of Phoenix, AZ for the past 30 years and moved back to WI in May of 2021. He lived at Alden Estates in Jefferson from May 2021 until his passing. Richard was born on June 12, 1939 in Watertown, the son of Lester and Edith (Henry) Strege. On July 17, 1964 he married Rebecca Rupnow. She preceded him in death on July 7, 1988. On November 10, 1989 he married Ruth Kausch. He served on the Watertown School Board and was on the Board for the Watertown Humane Society as he always had a great love for his dogs. He served in the 11th Air Assault Division during the Vietnam War. He was an Army Specialist Machine Gunner in Company C of division 187th infantry 30 Battalion. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, and golfing. He especially liked playing Sheepshead, Cribbage, and Parcheesi. He volunteered at Watertown Hospital and worked and retired from Waukesha Engine & Dresser, LLC. He is survived by his wife Ruth Strege; children: Melanie (Jay) Froemming and Mary (Dan) Butler; step-children, David (Donna) Schulz, Dan (Wendy) Schulz, and Kristi Schulz and their families; grandchildren: Ashley (Andrew) Crandall, Taylor (Lexxi) Froemming, Brandon (Molly) Butler, Cody (Amanda) Butler; great-grandchildren: Alivia, Vylette, Easton, Katalina, Leila; brother, John (Val) Strege of West Virginia; sisters-in-law, Diane Strege, Sandy Strege, and Bonnie Justmann, all of Watertown; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: David Lee Strege, Lester Dean Strege, Michael Ray Strege, and Jim Strege. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown with Rev. James Backus of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church officiating. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial with military honors will be held at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia at a later date. Memorials would be appreciated to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. Robert “Skip” Strege

Robert “Skip” Strege loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great grandpa passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022, and was reunited with his loving daughter Kelli. Skip was born August 10, 1941, in Watertown, Wisconsin and later adopted by loving parents Robert and Beats Strege. Skip got his work ethics by working many jobs while attending school and was most proud of being on the school’s first wrestling team. After high school Skip attended Carroll College and soon after graduation was called to serve in the military. He was always so proud of his service. While stationed at Dugway Proving Grounds he met and married his wife, Lynne. He finished his career at Tooele Army Depot South Area and talked fondly of the many years he worked there. Skip never met a stranger and thought of everyone as a friend, this being one of his many great qualities. Skip loved his family dearly and is survived by his wife Lynne of 56 years; son Robert (Heidi); his special grandkids Samantha, Hanna, Abbi, Trinite, Lance, and Abrianna; three loved great grandkids Beau, Owen, and Aaliyah; his dad Robert; and three sisters Chris, Annette, and Heidi whom he loved very much. He is preceded in death by his loving daughter Kelli, mom, and brother. We know you are walking and driving now. Graveside services will be held held May 4, 2023, at noon at the Tooele City Cemetery.

Robert “Bob” P. Stueber, age 74, of Watertown, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, at UW Hospital in Madison, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Rodney Warnecke officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 5-8 p.m. at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown and at the church on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Clyman. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to the church, Wisconsin Lutheran Institutional Ministries or the charity of one’s choice. Stueber was born on Sept. 15, 1941, in Watertown, son of Ewald and Ruth (nee Christian) Stueber. He attended Zion Lutheran Grade School in Clyman before graduating from Watertown High School in 1959. On Sept. 5, 1970, he married the former Marlys Scheiber at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown. Together, they owned Stueber Oil Company. Bob served on many committees at his church. He enjoyed watching the Brewers, Packers and “Gunsmoke.” Most of all, Bob loved spending time with his family. Bob is survived by his wife, Marlys, of Watertown; two daughters, Brenda (Rev. Paul) Cole of Menominee, Mich., and Kristi (Jeff Sather) Stueber of Elkhorn; a son, Darren (Lisa) Stueber of Blue Ash, Ohio; grandchildren, Kevin, Jonah and Hannah Cole, and Jacob Madden; two brothers, Kenneth (Kathy) Stueber and David Stueber; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Stueber; a brother-in-law, Wallace Scheiber; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
