Watertown resident Daniel Kaddatz retires from Hull
Transport
Daniel Kaddatz, a Watertown resident and semi driver
poses by his truck in this submitted photo from Hull Transport in Stoughton.
Kaddatz recently retired from the industry a second time.
Daniel Kaddatz, a long-time
driver for Hull Transport in Stoughton, has retired for a second time. Kaddatz,
a Watertown resident, has worked for Hull for about 30 years, according to a
press release issued by the company. He received the company’s first-ever “Semi
Driver of the Year” award in 2014 for driving 6 million miles without an
accident. Kaddatz “loved trucking so much, he even retired once and came back to
do local truck driving for us again,” Hull owner Nick Hull wrote in the release.
“Danny deserves a huge pat on the back for all the excellent work he did through
his driving career, as he is finally throwing in the towel to ‘officially’ hand
over his keys and retire. He touched so many lives, made a huge impact on the
trucking industry, and I know he will continue to be a blessing to all the
people that come across him in life.”

Watertown, son of Harold and Mabel (Schimelpfenig) Krueger. He attended
kindergarten at the old Douglas School, and St. John’s Lutheran School through
eighth grade. He was a 1959 graduate of Watertown High School where he lettered
in football, basketball, track and baseball. In 1964 he graduated from the
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree
with a major in business and a minor in history. Ralph was a business teacher
for 13 years at the former Custer High School in Milwaukee. In 1965, he was the
first teacher at Custer High School to head the school-to-work program which
started in the Milwaukee School District that year. He was head cross country
coach, leading teams to state several times. He was also assistant track coach
at the school. He loved coaching and kept in touch with several of his students
up until the time of his death. He joined the advertising staff of the Watertown
Daily Times in 1977 when the family moved to Watertown. He was named business
manager of the newspaper in 1984 and served in that capacity for 24 years until
his retirement in 2007. He married the former Margaret Ann Clifford on August 7,
1965 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Watertown and celebrated their 57th

Ralph was passionate about serving others. He was a member of St. John’s

volunteer for Rainbow Hospice, Your Friends in Action, Meals on Wheels, and

his kitchen baking cookies and bread which he would share with family, friends,
neighbors and the ROC Youth Center. He enjoyed spending time with his wife,
children and grandchildren both in Wisconsin and while spending winters in New
Smyrna Beach, FL. Another highlight of being in New Smyrna Beach was a daily
cribbage game with friends. For years, he also played cribbage daily online as a
way to stay in touch with far away friends and family. Whether online or in
person, he loved connecting and spending time with people while playing cards.
He loved to golf and enjoyed playing with groups of friends both in Wisconsin
and Florida. He and his wife enjoyed taking many trips around the world. He was
an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, UW-Madison Badgers, Milwaukee Bucks and

Man of courage and wit, Gary
Scholl worked to enjoy his life to the end
Gary
Wayne Scholl was one of those people who went through life saying a glass
was half-full, not half empty. He had a good sense of humor and a positive
attitude, said his family and friends. He kept that spirit even after he
found out last year that he had cancer and had about a year to live. "He was
extremely courageous," said his daughter, Teri Steffen of Bloomington. "He
never gave up. He was never scared. Never depressed. That was the kind of
man he was. He was just very warm, positive, courageous." Scholl, surrounded
by his family, died Monday in his Apple Valley home. He was 50. "He was a
man who found a balance between his family, career and spiritual beliefs,"
said a family friend, Joellen
Finch. "He did that with a mischievous sense of humor." Scholl worked in sales
for 13 years at Oscar Mayer Co. before joining American Fruit and Produce, which
does business as Kraft/American, in 1976 as a meat merchandiser. He most
recently was the company's sales director. "Gary was a super salesman and he was
responsible for a lot of our sales growth in the past 10 years," said Andrew
Montgomery, the company's controller. Scholl was also responsible for keeping
people in good spirits on the job. "He was always ready with a joke," Montgomery
said. "He was always up, and that rubbed off on a lot of us." Scholl was born in
Milwaukee and grew up in Oconomowoc, Wis. He joined the Army in 1955 and was a
paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division. Besides Teri Steffen, he is
survived by another daughter, Kathy Scholl of St. Paul; his wife, Diane; three
sons, Kevin Scholl of Texas, Thomas Steffen of Inver Grove Heights and Timothy
Steffen of Minneapolis, and a brother, Ken of Baltimore, Md. Memorial services
will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at River Hills United Methodist Church in
Burnsville. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are
suggested to the Gary W. Scholl Memorial Fund.

Victim of
Gunblast Termed in "Very Serious" Condition
FORT ATKINSON - William F. Loomis, 27, of Rt. 2, Fort Atkinson, was reported
in "very serious" condition early today by Madison General Hospital
authorities as the result of a blast from a 16-gauge shotgun. Loomis, the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Loomis, was taken to the Fort Atkinson Hospital
by ambulance shortly after sheriff's deputies were called to the home of his
parents at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday. According to earlier reports, he underwent
extensive surgery Wednesday night and was transferred Thursday morning to
Madison. Although the Jefferson Counts sheriff's department has jurisdiction
of the matter, no statement was released until early today. According to
this morning's release, the wound was considered "self inflicted." Fort
Atkinson police were called to assist the sheriff's deputies Wednesday
night, but Police Chief William Ciske stated today, "information on the
incident was not ours to release as it was not our departmental
jurisdiction, we only gave assistance to the county." Ciske, along with
other members of the Fort Atkinson police department, had been in Madison
attending an FBI law enforcement conference, as was Undersheriff Roger
Reinel and Chief Deputy Harry Buerger of the Jefferson County Sheriff's
department.
