Dixie Lee Daniels

June 4, 1945 - January 12, 2020

Dixie Lee Daniels, 74, of Palm Coast, FL, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020. She was born on June 8, 1945 in Cortland, New York to the late Orange and Flossie (Ryan) Oliver. Dixie is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Robert G. Daniels Sr. of Palm Coast, FL; sons, Robert G. Daniels Jr, Donald W. Daniels; daughters, Denise Hiser Ruddick, Doreen Lehoullier; brother Robert Harman; sisters, Sharan Clark, Patricia Kilgore; grandchildren, Sean, Morgan, Diana, Seth, Jack, Lauren, Ryan, Christopher, Kaylee; great grandchildren, Isabella, Abby, Lily, Anthony. Dixie is preceded in death by her daughter, Diana Daniels and brother, Albert Harman. Dixie was always up for an adventure, she traveled through the United States with her husband Robert and their children. She was able to turn any place she went into a home no matter what the circumstances. With Dixie's support, her husband was able to take opportunities that allowed their family to prosper. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 54 years they met when they were children and were dedicated to each other. They had great adventures together in Guatemala, Aruba and across the United States once their children where grown. Dixie had five children and then became a cosmetologist and owner of her own business in Homer, NY. To this day we are still stopped in stores at home asking about her and how she was the only one who could do their hair right. She knew no strangers if you were next to her in line, be prepared to either hear about her children or her adventures and she would ask you about your life and family and don't even think about not answering her. She never pulled any punches you knew where you stood with her if she didn't like something, she would certainly tell you. Once she told a cashier at the grocery store how awful his hair looked, and he needed a good hairdresser. She was fiercely proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and if you showed any interest, she would pull out her phone and show you all their pictures and tell you about their accomplishments. She was the best mother anyone could ask for and sacrificed and worked hard to give her children experiences that she did not get to experience as a child. Dixie's one true passion other than her family, was the beach. The beach was her true happy place she loved to get in the ocean boogie board and swim. She was an avid coffee drinker and an early riser. Since moving to Palm Coast, you would get a daily Facebook update of the current temperature and her location on the Lanai watching the sunrise. She was full of life and the kindest soul you would ever have the pleasure to meet, everyone who crossed paths with Dixie was better for it. Heaven gained a beautiful soul, but she will be sorely missed by her family and all who knew her. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dixie's name to the American Cancer Society at cancer.org. The family of Mrs. Daniels entrusted the arrangements to Clymer Funeral Home & Cremations.

John Charles Goethe, 80

John Charles Goethe, 80, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2022, surrounded by family. He was born on June 9, 1941, in Watertown, Wis., to Joseph and Hilda Goethe. After he graduated from college in Chicago, his work for Xerox took him on travels to 48 states before he transitioned to a career in retail management and settling in upstate New York. While visiting Saratoga Springs, N.Y., he met his beloved wife, Donna, and they married in 1974. It didn’t take much to make Goethe smile. He found joy in even the simplest of things. He loved to travel and was always up for an adventure, but he most loved his time spent on his boat, fishing pole in hand, in the waters off southern Delaware, where he and his wife retired in 2008. He always saw the best in people and was a kind and gentle soul. He was incredibly lighthearted and found the humor in every situation. Even in his final days, he was making those around him laugh. He battled a number of difficult illnesses over several years, but never once did he complain. He always stayed positive and lived his life to the fullest. He adored his family and spent his final days reminiscing about the joyful memories they made together. Goethe is survived by his wife, Donna; and their three children, Jonathan, Christina (and a grand-dog) and Jeffery (and a grandchild); and his son Joseph (and Diana, and two grandchildren). A visitation will be held at 10 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Long Neck Methodist Church, 32051 Long Neck Rd, Millsboro, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial contributions in Goethe’s name to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 .
