Susan Carol Tesch
January 31, 1942 - March 7, 2025

Susan Carol Tesch, 83, of Watertown Wisconsin was
called to her Heavenly home on March 7 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 31, 1942, in Watertown, the daughter of Howard and Margaret
(McRitchie) Bruss. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great
grandmother. Susan was baptized at the Congregational Church in Watertown in
1951 and then in became a member of St. John’s Lutheran in 1962 where she
was a faithful member for over 60 years.
Susan was also a 1959 graduate of Watertown
High School. After graduation she put herself through nursing school at MATC
and graduated as an LPN. Then on Feb 20, 1962 she married her high school
sweetheart, Gene Tesch. Soon afterwards Gene enlisted in the Air Force and
they moved to Kansas. Susan worked as a nurse in a nursing home while living
there. However, once Gene was deployed overseas she returned to Wisconsin to
be with family. She worked many jobs from typing Will’s for an attorney,
working at Bethesda Lutheran homes and eventually becoming the Supervisor of
the pediatric department at Watertown Memorial Hospital. Once Gene returned
from overseas and retired from the Air Force, they had 3 children. Jeffrey
Allen, Patricia Sue and Jennifer Marie.
Susan chose to stay home with her children when they
were younger, but once they were in school she started a career at Mullens
Dairy. She worked her way up over the years and finally became manager. She
trained many Watertown youth in their first job. After 25 years at Mullens
she then became a Kindergarten teachers aide at St. John’s Lutheran in
Watertown. She absolutely loved helping young children learn how to read and
write. Susan was a selfless mother who will be greatly missed, but the love
she shared with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will
continue to live on in our memories. She truly showed us what love and grace
was when her son Jeffrey Allen was killed by a drunk driver in 1989. Her
tired eyes often told the story of a devoted mother who selflessly allowed
others to grieve while she stood strong. We will all miss her selflessness,
incredible strength and courage as well as her never ending love and
support. Susan is survived by her daughters: Jennifer (Mike) Saniter,
Patricia (Jack) Gurholt, grandchildren Brock Saniter, Ellie (Alex) Wendorf,
John (Sammi) Gurholt, Jason (Lexi) Gurholt as well as great grandchildren
Wesley Gene & Laney Ann Wendorf. She is also survived by her brother Doug
(Mary) Bruss and sister Joan Leary as well as many nieces and nephews, other
relatives and friends. Susan is now joyfully reunited in Heaven with her
husband Gene and son Jeffery Allen whom she missed and grieved for daily.
The family would also like to thank Rainbow hospice for their love, care and
compassion during her time of need. Her nurse Emmy went above and beyond for
her journey to the end with the utmost love and respect. A funeral service
will be held on Friday March 14, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran
Church in Watertown, with Pastors Jerry Ewings and Nicholas Quinnett
officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church from 9:00 a.m.
until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery
where she’ll be laid to rest next to her husband Gene and son Jeffrey.

Gretchen Louise Scott (nee Burzynski), aged 82, died on July 2, 2023 in Bedford,
Massachusetts. She was born on Feb. 7, 1941, in Milwaukee (WI). She was the
daughter of Eugene E. (Buzz) and Helen K. Burzynski. She has one brother, Pete.
Gretchen was raised primarily in Watertown (WI), where she attended public
schools, including Webster Elementary and Watertown Jr. and Sr. High Schools.
She graduated from Watertown High School (WHS) in 1959. She married Guy Richards
Scott in Watertown (WI) on March 31, 1962. She and Guy had four children:
Jeffery, Guy (Andy), Jill (Devitt) and Peter. Her husband, Guy, an investment
portfolio manager, preceded her in death in 2015. She is survived by her
children, five grandchildren, and her brother, Pete. Throughout her lifetime,
Gretchen lived in the cities of Watertown and Madison (WI), Chatham (NJ), Weston
(MA), Belvedere and Sonoma (CA), Sanibel (FL), and for the last few years in the
suburban Boston (MA) area. Gretchen was a leader among her WHS classmates, and
she took on a variety of challenges while in secondary school. She was active in
band, orchestra (flute), and student council, studied both Latin and German, was
a senior class officer, a member of the National Honor Society, and recipient of
several academic awards and honors. After graduation from Watertown High School,
Gretchen attended Wellesley College and the University of Wisconsin, where she
earned a Bachelors Degree in 1964. After raising her four children, she returned
to higher education, earning a nursing degree, and served as a Psychiatric Nurse
at McLean Hospital, a psychiatric teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School.
Gretchen devoted the largest portion of her life as a mother to her children, of
whom she was very proud and with whom she gathered for many years on an annual
multi-generational family retreat among the New Hampshire lakes and mountains.
She was also proud of her role in later life working with clients at McLeans
Hospital, where she served on a multidisciplinary team in the treatment of
clients with anxiety disorders, among them, in particular, Obsessive-Compulsive
Disorder. While she and her late husband were active in churches in
Massachusetts, California and Florida, she also became absorbed in seashore
wildlife while living in the Sanibel-Captiva Island area of Florida, and she
became a docent for the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum, headquartered in
Sanibel. She loved to provide information about seashells along the Sanibel
beach coastline to visitors and residents to whom she cheerfully offered her
knowledge and insights. Anyone wishing to honor Gretchen’s life would be
