Inez Minah Fuerst was born June 3, 1922, in New London, Waupaca Co., WI, and died August 1, 1985, at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital, City of Sheboygan, Sheboygan Co., WI, at age 63. Buried in Presbyterian Cemetery, Holland, Sheboygan Co., WI. She is the daughter of Gustave J. Fuerst of Bear Creek Twp., Waupaca Co., WI, and Belle Ayres of Little Wolf Twp., Waupaca Co., WI.

Hawe-Lewis Pair To Marry In June

Miss Nancy Catherine Hawe is the fiancee of Jan P. Lewis, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hawe, R. 1, Oostburg, are announcing. The future bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lewis, 36 Van Altena St., Cedar Grove. Now employed at Time Insurance Co. of Milwaukee, Miss Hawe was a student at Wisconsin State University - Oshkosh. Mr. Lewis is a senior at Milwaukee School of Engineering in Milwaukee and is a member of Tau Iota Epsilon and Tau Omega Mu Fraternities. The couple plans a June 26 wedding in St. George Catholic Church, R. 3, Sheboygan Falls.

Laurence P. Lewis

Laurence P. Lewis, 55, of 36 Van Altena Ave., Cedar Grove, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening while operating the radio system at the Cedar Grove firehouse. Born May 10, 1919 in Waupaca, the son of Mrs. Cora Wagner and the late Albert Lewis, he was a graduate of Waupaca High School. On April 12, 1942 he married Inez Fuerst at Shawano. The couple moved to Cedar Grove in 1955 from Waupaca. Mr. Lewis had been employed at the Larson Canning Co., Cedar Grove, as a millwright. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Cedar Grove, and had been a member of the Fire Department for 18 years. Survivors are his widow: two sons, Jan of Milwaukee and Richard at home; a daughter, Jill at home; two grandchildren and his mother of Waupaca. A brother preceded him in death. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Bruce Meyer, pastor, will officiate. Friends may call at the Krostag Funeral Home, Oostburg, after 4 p.m. Thursday, until 10 a.m. Friday, and at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of services.

Rites Unite Couples

St. Peter Claver Church was the nuptial scene Saturday as Miss Mary Jo Wiegerling, 1138 Swift Ave., became the bride of Richard Lewis, 36 Van Altena Ave., Cedar Grove. Celebrant of the Nuptial Mass was the Rev. George Hopf. Mrs. Carol Wilterdink was organist in the rite and vocalists were Paul DeMaster, Tom Hawe, Jr. and Dave Wieberdink. The bride is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wiegerling. Mrs. Inez Lewis, 3330 S. 11th Place, is the bridegroom's mother and his father was the late Lawrance Lewis. Attendants in the wedding were Helen Krueger, matron of honor and Jan Lewis of St. Joseph, Mich., best man. Kathy Lewis and Jim Lewis were flower girl and ring bearer, respectively. Miss JoAnne Wiegerling, Miss Peggy Kuitert and Miss Janette Lewis Lewis were bridesmaids with John Wiegerling, Holle Ramaker of Cedar Grove and Darrel Veldboom of Sheboygan Falls, groomsmen. Roger Derus and Nick Theune ushered. The reception for 300 guests was held at Al and Al's. After a two week wedding trip to Florida, the newlyweds will reside in Cedar Grove at 210 N. Main St., Apt. 204. The former Miss Wiegerling was graduated with the Class of 1972 from South High School and is employed as a secretary in the business office of Sheboygan Public Schools. Her husband is an alumnus of Cedar Grove High School with the Class of 1965. He is a maintenance mechanic at Larsen Canning Co., Cedar Grove.

Gustave J. Fuerst

Waupaca - Gustave J. Fuerst, 84, of 415 N. Main St., died Wednesday at his home. He was born in the Town of Union, Waupaca County, Dec. 30, 1889. He was married in Manawa July 22, 1920, to Belle Ayres. He served in the U. S. Army during World War I and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Post No. 53 in Manawa. He had been a janitor in municipal buildings in Waupaca until his retirement. Survivors include his widow; four daughters, Mrs. Roy (Eileen) Spearbraker of Clintonville, Mrs. Inez Lewis of Sheboygan, Mrs. Vance (June) High of Venice, Fla., and Mrs. Richard (Alice) Hawkins of Fairport, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Schramm of Sheboygan and Mrs. Ella Pirner of Milwaukee; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca Saturday at 1:30 p.m., the Rev. James Diener officiating. Burial will be in Little Wolf Cemetery, Manawa. Friends may call at the funeral home today after 4 p.m.

Waupaca - Mrs. Clyde (Edna) LaBar, 74, of 1005 St. Paul, Green Bay, formerly of Waupaca, died Sunday at her residence. Born Feb. 1, 1901 in Manawa, she married Clyde LaBar, Oct. 20, 1920 at Iola. Surviving are the widower; one son, William, Green Bay; two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Nathalie) Nelson, Weyauwega; Mrs. James (Phyllis) LaSage Jr., Waupaca; two brothers, Ray Ayers, Manawa, and Floyd Ayers, Wisconsin Rapids; three sisters, Mrs. Mae Edminster and Mrs. Belle Fuerst, both of Waupaca; Mrs. Phil (Grayce) Court, New Londod; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Holly Funeral Home, Waupaca, the Rev. Barry Shaw officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Waupaca. Friends may call at the funeral home after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning until the time of the service.

Inez M. Lewis

Mrs. Inez M. Lewis, 63, of 3330 S. 11th Place and formerly of Cedar Grove, died Wednesday at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital. She was born Jan. 3, 1922, at New London, the daughter of Belle Ayres Fuerst and the late Gust Fuerst. She graduated from Waupaca High School in 1940. On April 12, 1942, she was married to Laurence P. Lewis at Shawano. The couple resided at Waupaca and in 1955 moved to Cedar Grove. Her husband preceded her in death on May 14, 1974. Mrs. Lewis later moved to Sheboygan. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Cedar Grove, and a member of the church's Loyal Hearts Association. Survivors include: two sons, Jan of Irwin, Penn., and Richard F. of Cedar Grove; a daughter, Mrs. Albert (Jill) Rauscher, Jr. of Oshkosh; four grandchildren; her mother of Waupaca; three sisters, Mrs. Roy Spearbreaker of Clintonville, Mrs. Richard Hawkins of Fairport, N. Y., and Mrs. Vance High of Venice, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First United Presbyterian Church, with family services at 1:45 p.m. in the church lecture room. The Rev. Robert Woodyard will officiate. Burial will be in the Presbyterian Cemetery. Nancy C. Lewis, 59, of Penn Township, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, in Magee-Womens Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born July 21, 1944, in Pasadena, Calif., a daughter of Thomas F. and Delores Salm Hawe, of Waldo, Wis. She was employed as a sales person for Continental Office Environments in Homestead. She was a member of St. Barbara Church in Harrison City. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Jan P. Lewis; a son, James P. Lewis and wife, Amy, of Lexington, Ohio; a daughter, Kathleen M. Ruiz and husband, Thomas, of Naperville, Ill.; five grandchildren, Nick, Jake, Leah, Ella and Benjamin; a brother, Thomas J. Jan Peter Lewis

Jan P. Lewis, 63, of Harrison City, PA, and formerly of Cedar Grove, died Friday, February 23, 2007 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Jan was born June 15, 1943 in Waupaca, a son of the late Lawrence P. and Inez (Fuerst) Lewis. He graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1961 and the Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1964. Jan married the late Nancy C. Hawe at St. George Catholic Church in the Town of Wilson. She preceded him in death on October 15, 2003. Prior to his retirement, Jan was a consultant for the foundry industry. He was a member of St. Barbara Church in Harrison City, the Paintertown Volunteer F.D. and the American Foundry Society. Survivors include a son, James P. (Amy) Lewis of Lexington, Ohio; a daughter, Kathleen M. (Tom) Ruiz of Naperville, Ill.; five grandchildren, Nick, Jake, and Leah Lewis and Ella and Benjamin Ruiz; a brother, Richard (Mary) Lewis of Cedar Grove; and a sister, Jill (Al) Rauscher of Owensboro, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Nancy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 2, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls with the Rev. Robert Lotz officiating. Burial will take place at St. George Cemetery in the Town of Wilson. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Thursday, March 1, 2007 from 4-7 p.m.; and on Friday, at church, from 9:30 until the time of Mass at 10:30 am.
