Girl From Neshkoro, Berlin Man to Wed

NESHKORO - Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Roche, Neshkoro, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Karen, to David Harke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Harke, Berlin. Miss Roche will graduate from Westfield High School in May. Her fiance is a graduate of Berlin High School and is employed by Berlin Laundry. No immediate wedding plans have been made.

Harke-Roche Wedding Held On Saturday

BERLIN - Miss Karen Ray Roche, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Roche, Neshkoro, became the bride of David Harke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Harke, 459 S. W. Ceresco St., in a ceremony conducted by the Rev. Arthur Schedler at St. John's Lutheran Church Saturday. Pink asters and baskets of gladioli decorated the altar. Miss Kathy Barr sang nuptial selections accompanied by Arnold Lobse. The bride appeared in a floor-length gown of Chantilly type lace and nylon tuile. Sequins and pearls trimmed the sweetheart neckline. The bouffant skirt had an apron effect of lace cascading back into ruffles of tuile and lace. The apron effect was accented by a row of lace and a flounce of nylon tuile in the front. A small sequin crown held her fingertip veil of French illusion. She carried a dozen red roses and a white orchid. Bonnie Marten, Horicon, was maid of honor attired in a soft blue street-length frock of net and taffeta cummerbund and a bow in back. Her colonial bouquet was of blue and white baby chrysanthemums. Elaine Gunderson, Redgranite, was bridesmaid in an identical gown of shrimp colorcarried a matching colonial bouquet. The best man was Garvin Shields, Berlin, and groomsman was Mure Gunderson, Redgranite. Guests were ushered by Victor Fichsteadt, Wautoma, and Herbert Kelm, Berlin. A reception followed at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, after which the couple left for a honeymoon trip. They will live at 486A Broadway. Mrs. Harke was graduated from Westfield High School and is employed by Wisconsin Telephone Company here. Her husband is a Berlin High School graduate and is employed by Clarence Braun, contractor.

Walter Alvin Harke, Tuesday, July 15, 1919  -  Saturday, May 21, 2005, Age 85

Walter A. Harke, age 85, of Neshkoro, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2005 at the Berlin Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 15, 1919 in the Town of Crystal Lake, Marquette County, the son of Edward and Emma (Hessler) Harke. He married Irmgard Buchholz on November 15, 1940 at the Emmanuel (Big Mecan) Lutheran Church of Montello. Walter and Irmgard farmed by Neshkoro for 57 years before they retired and moved to the Village of Neshkoro. Walter also had other jobs during his career which included; Green Bay Foods for 12 years, Holzhueter Service Station in Neshkoro for 6 years, hauled milk for Shield’s Creamery and ASC for many years. He was a Director for Crystal Lake Insurance for 24 years, Director for Wild Rose Creamery, and a Town of Crystal Lake Board Member. Walter was baptized, confirmed, and a life long member of Zion Lutheran Church in Neshkoro. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Irmgard; 3 daughters, Julianna (Norman) Becker of Berlin, June (the late husband Dennis) Kitchen of Neshkoro, Jane (Robinson) Butz of Cedarburg; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; sister Leona Schmidt of Beaver Dam; sister-in-law Irma Harke of Rockford, IL.; brother-in-law Edgar Buchholz of Green Lake, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Dennis Kitchen, sister Evelyn Rucks, brother Arnold Harke, sister-in-law Dorothy Buchholz,and a grandson. A funeral service for Walter A. Harke will take place on Tuesday, May 24, at 2:00 P.M., with visitation starting at 12:00 P.M., from Zion Lutheran Church in Neshkoro with Rev. Franklin Giebel officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Neshkoro. A memorial has been established. Wachholz and Sons Funeral Home in Princeton.

Irmgard B. Harke

Irmgard B. Harke, age 90, of Neshkoro, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at the Juliette Manor Nursing Home in Berlin. She had been a resident of Juliette Manor for the past two years. She was born on July 11, 1915 in the Township of Shields, Marquette County the daughter of Albert and Anna (Wegner) Buchholz. She married Walter A. Harke on November 15, 1940 at Emmanuel (Big Mecan) Lutheran Church of Montello. Irmgard and Walter farmed by Neshkoro for 57 years, before they retired in 1997, and moved to the Village of Neshkoro. She also worked at Neshkoro Products for several years before she retired. She was an avid gardener, and enjoyed needlework. Irmgard was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Neshkoro. She is survived by 3 daughters, Julianna (Norman) Becker of Berlin, June (the late husband Dennis) Kitchen of Neshkoro, Jane (Robinson) Butz of Cedarburg; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; brother Edgar Buchholz of Green Lake; 2 sisters-in-law, Leona Schmidt of Beaver Dam, Irma  Harke of Rockford, IL.; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter on May 21, 2005, son-in-law, Dennis Kitchen, two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Buchholz, Evelyn Rucks; brother-in-law, Arnold (Ella) Harke and a grandson. A funeral service for Irmgard B. Harke will take place on Friday, July 15, at 2 p.m., with visitation starting at noon from Zion Lutheran Church in Neshkoro with Rev. Franklin Giebel officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Neshkoro. A memorial has been established. Wachholz and Sons Funeral Home in Princeton.


 


Leona Schmidt

Leona Schmidt, 78, of Beaver Dam, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2006 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital. Leona was born on March 8, 1928, in the township of Crystal Lake, Marquette County, the daughter of Edward and Emma (Hessler) Harke. She married Fredrick T. Schmidt, on July 4, 1953. Leona worked for Green Giant Canning Co. in Beaver Dam. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Survivors include her former husband, Fredrick T. Schmidt, Mayville; two daughters, Barbara (Jon) Stradtman, Chippewa Falls, and Dianne (Jerry) Miescke, Burnett; three sons, James Schmidt (fiancee Chris Pylant), Colorado Springs, Colo., John (Carol) Schmidt, Frankfurt, Ky., and Steven Schmidt, Horicon; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Walter and Arnold Harke; one sister, Evelyn Rucks; and one grandson, Scott Miescke. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 20, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service, at Zion Lutheran Church, Neshkoro. The Rev. Arthur Senn will officiate. Burial will follow the service in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Neshkoro. The Wachholz and Sons Funeral Home, Princeton, is serving the family.
