Comments:
William Earl and Louisa Wood were the first pioneer couple to be married after arriving in Linn County. William came Westin 1845 on the Hackleman train with his mother and siblings and took up DLCs for each one after exploring the area south of the Santiam River what is now the northwest/east part of Linn County near Knox Butte. He died of unknown causes at age 40, owned 680 acres at time of his death. My grandfather was his youngest child at the time, Tolbert Carter Earl. Louisa married Thomas Humphreys so Tolbert did not remember his father, only his stepfather.
