The Saint Paul Daily Globe, Saint Paul, Ramsey Co., MN, Friday, November 18, 1892 COURT CHIPS. Amanda Young is now known as Amanda Larson, and she seemingly wants a still further alteration in her name, or rather asks the district court to decide" where is she at?" She has made an application for divorce from Axel Young, who is sometimes known as John Olson and in some places is called J. L. Oleson. They were married at Minneapolis Feb. 28, 1884, under the names of Amanda Larson and Axel Young. In May of the same year the supposed husband was indicted in St. Paul, under the name of J. L. Oleson, charging polygamy. It is claimed that he married Anna M. Johnson in 1874 in Marquette county, Michigan, and that this wife was still living and not divorced when he married the plaintiff to this action. The man with the aliases was sentenced to the penitentiary for three years by Judge Brill in 1884 upon conviction of polygamy. Amanda Albertina (Larson) Olson was divorced from Alexander O. "Axel" Young (a/k/a John L. Olson) about January 9, 1893, in the Circuit Court, Saint Paul, Ramsey Co., MN. The Saint Paul Daily Globe, Saint Paul, Ramsey Co., MN, Tuesday, January 10, 1893 Judge John W. Willis tried two misfit cases yesterday, and decided that the wife in each case is entitled to be divorced from husbands who failed in the observance of marital vows. In one case it was Amanda Young who was freed from Axel Young, who has sometimes been known as John L. Olson and sometimes as John Young. He lived only a year with Amanda, and has since served a term in the penitentiary. He was charged with being the husband of other living wives from whom he had not been legally divorced. Amanda will hereafter be known as Amanda Larson. The Saint Paul Daily Globe, Saint Paul, Ramsey Co., MN, Wednesday, January 11, 1893 Two divorce cases were taken up by Judge Egan yesterday. James W. Davis was granted an absolute divorce from Bertha Davis because of willful desertion for more than three years. The other divorce case was but partly heard, and went over to the next term for lack of proof as to infidelity. This is the case of Amanda Young against Axel Young.
