Living with him is his wife of 19 years, Lena Gilby (age 45) born May 1855 in Norway to Norwegian-born parents and having emigrated in 1859, with both of the children born to her still alive. Also living there are his two sons, both born in Minnesota, unmarried and at School: Fred C. Gilby (age 17) born March 1882; and William Gilby (age 14) born July 1885. Four Boarders also live in the household.

The 1905 Minnesota State Census taken on June 14, 1905, shows Charles Gilby (age 52) born in England to English-born parents and having lived in this district for 25 years is a Mechanic Laborer living on 5th Street, 3rd Ward, City of Hastings, Dakota Co., MN. Living with him is Lena Gilby (age 49) born in Norway to Norwegian-born parents and having lived in this district for 23 years. Also living there are two Gilby males, both born in Minnesota to English and Norwegian-born parents: Frank C. Gilby (age 22), a Day Laborer; and William Gilby (age 20), a Day Laborer.

Charles Gilby died June 30, 1906, in Hastings, Dakota Co., MN, at age 54.

Mr. Charles Gilby died on Saturday last, at home on west Fifth Street, after an illness of long duration. He was born in Lincolnshire, Eng., Oct. 8th, and immigrated at an early age with his parents to America, when they took up residence at Toronto, Can. In 1874 they removed west locating at Minneapolis and three years later they removed to this city. In 1881 he was married to Miss Lena Jensen, and they have since made Hastings their home. Mr. Gilby has always been an upright honorable citizen, who was highly regarded by all who knew him, and his friends were grieved to learn of his death. His occupation was that of blacksmith, until failing health necessitated him to retire. He was a prominent member of Dakota Lodge, No. 7, A. F. and A. M., and of Hastings Lodge, No. 48, A. O. U. W. He is survived by a wife and two sons, Charles F., and William R., also three brothers and one sister, Robert H. of Staples, William of Port Arthur, Ont., Frank of Grand Forks, and Mrs. Simonton of Youngstown, O., to all of whom the sympathy of friends is extended. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon, at half past two under Masonic auspices, Rev. R. L. Lewis officiating. The interment was in Lakeside.

Gilby (age 25) married for 2 years, an Electric Lineman.

The 1930 U. S. Census taken on January 22, 1930, shows Charles F. Gilly (age 35) born in Minnesota to English and Norwegian-born parents is an unmarried Salesman in a Dry Goods Store and is Lodging at 17 Summit, 9th Ward, City of St. Paul, Ramsey Co., MN. Another Lodger lives with him.

The 1930 U. S. Census taken on April 3, 1930, shows Florence Gilly (age 37) born in Minnesota to Danish and Swedish-born parents and first married at age 18 is a married Hotel Servant and is Lodging at 147 E. 6th Street, 4th Ward, City of St. Paul, Ramsey Co., MN.

Charles Francis Gilby died April 28, 1944, in St. Paul, Ramsey Co., MN, at age 62.

Florence (Unknown) Gilby was born August 11, 1891, in Minnesota and died January 14, 1966, in St. Paul, Ramsey Co., MN, at age 74. Was married to Charles about 1912 and living in St. Paul on September 12, 1918 when Charles was a Police Officer employed by the St. Paul Union Stock Yards. Charles is living at a hotel, and Florence is living at 486 Jackson Street, South St. Paul, MN.
