Valentine Schmidt was born October 13, 1843, in Kewaskum, Washington Co., Wisconsin Territory, and died July 31, 1926, at his home in the Village of Glenbeulah, Sheboygan Co., WI, at age 82. Buried in Forest Home Cemetery, Banner, Fond du Lac Co., WI. He is the son of Johann "John" Schmidt of Germany, and Magdalena Unknown of Germany.

Wilhelmine "Minnie" Krause was born March 2, 1846, in Swanbach, Germany, and died April 10, 1914, in the Town of Forest, Fond du Lac Co., WI, at age 68. Forest Home Cemetery, Banner, Fond du Lac Co., WI. She is the daughter of Johann Wilhelm Krause of Germany, and Louisa Johanna "Louise" Bufohl/Pufohl of Zadelow, Pommern, Germany.

Wilhelmine "Minnie" Krause immigrated with her parents and family to the U. S. A. from Bremerhaven, Germany, arriving at the Port of New York on June 11, 1867, aboard the Bremen Bark Jupiter.

Valentine Schmidt and Wilhelmine "Minnie" Krause were married March 11, 1868, in Auburn Twp., Fond du Lac Co., WI.

Valentine Schmidt and Wilhelmine "Minnie" (Krause) Schmidt had five children:

Buried in Bennett Cemetery, Bennett, Douglas Co., WI. Married August 8, 1899, in West Superior, Douglas Co., WI, to Ellanora G. VALENTINE SMITH OF GLENBEULAH IS HONORED VETERAN

Valentine Smith, aged 80 years, a resident of Glenbeulah, is one of the many Civil was veterans who fought for his country in 1864 to 1865. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Smith of Kewaskum and resided on a farm up to the time of enlisting. Private Valentine Smith enlisted November 3, 1864, at Fond du Lac, for the term of one year. He was a boy of 19 years at that time. During his time in service he was very ill, and never expected to see home again, being a victim of the fever. At Richmond he remembers of a terrible battle in which they took part, and at this place he was taken a prisoner. But further he cannot recall. He was discharged July 19, 1865, at Detroit, Michigan. He returned to Kewaskum, where he resumed the occupation of farming. A few years later he was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Krause, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Krause at Auburn. Mr. Smith continued farming, and spent many years at Kewaskum. Later they moved to Forest, Fond du Lac county, where they purchased a farm. A few years ago the family moved to Glenbeulah, where Mr. Smith now resides with his children. Mr. and Mrs. Smith have the following children: Mrs. Emma Pambeine, Allington; Mrs. Bertha Lohse, Forest; and Miss Louise and Albert of Glenbeulah.


Valentine Schmidt died July 31, 1926, at his home in the Village of Glenbeulah, Sheboygan Co., WI, at age 82. Buried in Forest Home Cemetery, Banner, Fond du Lac Co., WI.

GLENBEULAH MAN PASSES AWAY AT HOME SATURDAY

Glenbeulah. - Valentine Schmidt, 82, passed away at his home in the village Saturday, of general debility. Mr. Schmidt was born in Washington county and was united in marriage to Wilhemina Krause sixty years ago. He grew to manhood in Kewaskum and moved to this village about six years ago to live with his son and daughter. Mr. Schmidt served in the Rebellion. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Emma Pumping, of Allenton, Wisconsin; Miss Louise, at home, and two sons, Frank, who resides near Duluth, Minnesota, and Albert, at home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p. m., Wednesday, from the home and at 1:30 p. m. at the Evangelical Lutheran church in this village. Rev. Schmidt will officiate and interment will be made in the Lyon cemetery in the town of Forest.

GLENBEULAH - Valentine Schmidt, an old soldier, aged 82, died of heart disease at the home of his son, Albert Schmidt, early Saturday morning at Glenbeulah. Veteran Schmidt came to Glenbeulah from Town Forest where he was a prosperous farmer for many years. He was born in Washington County and resided there until he grew to manhood. About sixty years ago he was married to Miss Wilhelmina Krause. They made their home at Allenton for several years. Deceased is survived by the following children; Mrs. Emma Pumping to Allenton, Frank Schmidt of Duluth, Albert and Miss Louise at home. A daughter, Mrs. Lohse of Forest died six years ago. The funeral will be held at the home Wednesday and at the Zion Lutheran church, Rev. Martin Schmitt officiating, with burial in town Forest, Lyon cemetery.

August C. Lohse Of Town Forest Called to Rest

Plymouth, - (Special) - August C. Lohse, 74, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Otto Scherer, in the town of Forest, Fond du Lac county, at 8:45 p. m., Wednesday. He was born Aug. 3, 1866, in Germany, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lohse, and came to the United States in 1870. He married Bertha schmidt on Feb. 14, 1892, and she preceded him in death in 1920. Survivors are 10 children: Mrs. Otto Scherer, Mrs. Walter Waldschmidt, Henry and Louise Lohse, town of Forest; Fred and Mrs. Otto Eder, Fond du Lac; Albert, town of Scott; Arthur, Theresa; Otto, Manitowoc; and Mrs. George Achtenberg, Chicago. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 o'clock at the Otto Scherer home, and at 2 o'clock at St. Paul's Lutheran church, town Forest. The Rev. Ernest Behn will officiate, and burial will be in Forest Home cemetery. Friends may call at the Scherer home from 5 p. m. Thursday until the time of services.
