Hymenial.

An interesting event was that which occurred at the Episcopal rectory Tuesday evening. It was the marriage of Mr. N. E. Miller and Miss Sallie B. Fisher both of this city. The bridegroom is Assistant Cashier of the National Exchange Bank, and is one of the most popular young men in the city. The bride has for some time past a successful teacher in the public school. At an early hour the guests began to assemble, and by nine o'clock the pleasant parlors of the rectory were filled with the friends of the contracting parties. Promptly at that hour the bridal party appeared, and the impressive and beautiful marriage service of the Episcopal church was performed by Rev. O. Bulkley. At its conclusion Mr. and Mrs. Miller received the congratulations of the assembled company, and then all adjourned to an adjoining room, where a bountiful repast was in waiting. The good time that ensued it would be impossible to describe. Merriment and jollity prevailed, and when the party dispersed at a late hour, it was with renewed wishes for the happiness of the young couple whose love had just been so joyfully consummated. For the gratification of our lady friends we append a description of the bride's toilet which was elegant in the extreme - dress of white tarletan, beautifully trimmed with white satin; en train and pannier, everskirt and sleeveless basqne of white satin; long bridal veil, gathered and looped with sprays of orange blossoms, hair a la mode, gold ornaments. The bridegroom was dressed in a suit of back, with white vest, tie and kids. The bridal presents were numerous and elegant. Mr. and Mrs. Miller, we are pleased to learn, will make their home in this city. The JOURNAL wishes them bon voyage.

Funeral of N. E. Miller.

The remains of Mr. Nick E. Miller were brought here Thursday from Nevada. The funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church at 3 o'clock by Rev. J. S. Hunter, assisted by Elder Junius Wilkins. A large number of friends who knew the deceased from his boyhood days were in attendance and followed the remains to the city cemetery, where they were buried. It falls to the lot of few men to have as many warm, true friends as Nick Miller, and so far as human sympathy can go towards alleviating the sorrow and bereavement caused by the sting of sickness and death, his family may find one ray of comfort in the universally expressed sadness of the community that the son and brother they loved has gone beyond the river. As stated yesterday, Mr. Miller was about 40 years of age and was a life-long resident of Jefferson City. He was a business man of exceptionally fine ability, and for many years held responsible positions in the banks in this city. He has obliged by his failing health several years ago to give up his place in the Exchange bank, and, although a time the chief clerk in the United States Marshal Gates' office, he was unable on account of continuous ill-health to continue an active business life and soon became an invalid with no hope of recovery. He was a good, true, kind-hearted man, a thorough gentleman, with a gentleman 's appreciation of all that is good and honorable. He was generally esteemed and liked, and a prevailing feeling of regret is felt that a useful life could not have been spared longer to the world. Besides his parents and brothers, George and Dr. Phil, Mr. Miller leaves one sister, Mrs. Bragg, and a little daughter, Bessie, who is with her grandparents, to mourn his loss. His wife died some years ago.
