In 1941, C. T., Dollie and June Abbey went to California and stopped in Odessa, TX, to see Mr. Abbey's brother, Erwin. It turned out that Erwin was in very poor financial circumstances and was in bed very sick, perhaps with pneumonia. Mr. Abbey, Dollie and June went on to California and when they came back through Odessa to see how Erwin was getting along they discovered that he had died, and Mr. Abbey took care of the funeral. Mr. Abbey had always been very devoted to Erwin. Mr. Abbey was a very sensitive person but he would never express his feelings but you could tell how deeply affectionate he was to people in general and to many particular people such as his brother Erwin.

Destroyed were a two-story house, a smaller apartment in the rear of the building and a trailer apartment, all owned by Richard Dumbier, with a loss of approximately $6000. Another small apartment on the same lot was half consumed. Mrs. Edna Kistler, who occupied the two-story home said she "lost everything." Her widowed daughter, Mrs. Ruth Boggs, and her two children, who also lived in the house, were able to save some clothing and a few pieces of furniture, Mrs. Kistler said. Mrs. Kistler said a grass fire started earlier in the day caused the blaze.

He had lived in Abilene until moving to the retirement center six months ago. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Lena Fleming of Germany; three sisters, Mrs. R. W. Pennell of Sweetwater, Mrs. H. O. Graveside services are pending in Odessa, Tex., for Edna E. Abbey, 83, 3660 Boulder Highway, who died Tuesday in a local hospital. Mrs. Abbey was born in Neosha, Kan., on Feb. 8, 1889 and had lived in Las Vegas for 10 years. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Ingram of Las Vegas; two sisters, Edith McMasters of Sapulpa, Okla., and Eula Doyle of Houston, Tex.; three grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Rix Funeral Home in Odessa is handling out of town arrangements. Paalm Mortuary is in charge of local arrangements.


In May, 1974, Ruth Ingram was the dietary supervisor at Rancho Vegas Nursing Center, Las Vegas, Clark Co., NV. She lived in an apartment on the grounds and spent countless hours on projects at the center. She came to Las Vegas from Galveston, TX, where she was food manager at St. Mary's Hospital.

In 1979, Ruth Ingram, born August, 1909, was living at 4179 Denker Avenue, Los Angeles Co., CA. By 1993, she was living at 6505 and 6509 Delphinium Avenue, Las Vegas, Clark Co., NV.

Ruth Ellen (Youngdale) Perry died May 16, 1983, in Brady, McCulloch Co., TX, at age 70.

Lavenia Jo Andrisek, 83, passed away December 16, 2013 at Clear Lake Regional Hospital in Webster, Texas. Lavenia (Miss Jo) was born in Breckenridge, Texas April 11, 1930. She moved to Galveston as a young woman where she met and married Martin J. Andrisek. Miss Jo worked at Southwestern Bell as a switchboard operator until 1962. After that she joined UTMB hospital as a unit clerk for many years before becoming a phlebotomist and working at St. Mary's Hospital and again at UTMB Blood Bank Donor room. Lavenia's greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. Mom truly believed in giving of herself. In 1982, she made the most admirable and compassionate gift of her lifetime when she donated one of her kidneys to her son, Mike. She is preceded in death by her husband, Martin and oldest son Michael Andrisek. Lavenia is survived by her sons David (Janie), Eddie (Cindy), Danny (Tina) and daughters Barbara Garibaldi (Bubba) and Beth Buckner (Randy). She is also survived by her siblings Patsy in Las Vegas, NV, and Wendall and Sylvia in Fort Worth, TX. Ann Andrisek, daughter-in-law, in Anahuac, TX. She is also survived by Grandchildren, Amy O'Connor (Johnny), Tony Andrisek, Justin (Dianna), Bryan (Amber), Jennifer Dick, Kathryne Kluge and Chelsea Andrisek; great grandchildren Ty, Cole, Braelyn, Maverick, Gabriel, Maddy, Amory and Teddy. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Regency Village in Webster for the excellent care they provided for our mother throughout the years. Special thanks to Dr. Chau Vu and the staff at U S Renal Care Dialysis Unit in Friendswood Texas. We, the children, would specifically like to thank Randy McFall for all the devotion, care and love he showed towards mom. Thanks Randy for being such a big part of her life.
