Mrs. Minnie Craw, Three Lakes, Dies

Mrs. Minnie Viola Craw, 78, a resident of Three Lakes for 28 years, died at 2:15 a.. m. today in the Ford Convalescent Home after an extended illness. Born Jan. 1, 1881, at Cayuga, Ind., Mrs., Craw lived at Wausau before moving to Three Lakes around 1930. She is survived by three sons, Wayne Paddock of Starks, William Paddock of Deerfield and Virgil Paddock of Hartland; and three daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Pearl) Brenton, Shirland, Ill., Mrs. Herman (Flosssie) Luedtke, Three Lakes, and Mrs. Andrew (Julia) Craw, Glendale, Ariz., 21 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p. m. Tuesday in the Hildebrand Funeral Home, with the Rev. Len Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Three Lakes Cemetery. The body will be in the funeral home after 3 p. m. Monday. Mrs. Craw was a member of the Community Bible Church of Eagle River.


Wayne Revere Paddock was born March 23, 1902, in Fisher, Champaign Co., IL, and died March 9, 1974, in Edgar, Marathon Co., WI, at age 71.

Bernice Hannemann, 78, 1908 Walnut St., Wausau, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998, at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Ervin Hannemann; three daughters, Harriet (Edward) Adamski, Wausau, and Phyllis (Gary) Albright, and Georgia (Terry) Ludwig, all of Mosinee; one son, Roger (Lisa) Hannemann, Wausau; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Evelyn Shorey, Weston, and Marie Czerwinski, Lorraine (Ed) Colcord, and Marcella (Leroy) Tasche, all of Wausau.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Wausau. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter. Visitation will be at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau.

Frank F. Berghammer, 84, Athens, Wisconsin, a retired farmer, died Tuesday at Athens following a lingering illness. The Rev. Norman Thomas will officiate at rites in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Athens, tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock and burial will be in the church cemetery. Funeral Home, N. W. Gilles and Son.

Mr. Berghammer was born December 12, 1862, in Poppenwimm, Bavaria, Germany and was married in Germany to Anna Uttendorfer. In addition to his former farm work, he at one time operated a shoe repair shop in Athens for 10 years.

Survivors are the widow; three sons, Frank and John Berghammer, Rochester, Minn., and Henry Berghammer, Athens; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Shorey, Schofield, and Mrs. Albert Eckhart, Watertown; two brothers, Charles Berghammer, Woodland, and Henry Berghammer, Athens; 23 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services Held Tuesday Morning for Mrs. Anna Berghammer

Mrs. Anna Berghammer, 86, a former town of Johnson resident, died Sunday morning at the home of her son, Henry Berghammer in Athens, where she had been making her home the past 4 and one-half years. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Anthony's Catholic Church, with Rev. N. W. Thomas officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Berghammer was born Feb. 14, 1866 in (Mitterhausen, Bavaria) Germany, and was married there May 24, 1889 to Frank Berghammer. They came to America in 1897 and lived in Lomira prior to living in the town of Johnson. Mr. Berghammer died in Athens November 11, 1947.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Albert Eckert, Milwaukee and Mrs. Charles Shorey of Schofield; three sons, Henry Berghammer, Athens, John and Frank Berghammer, Rochester, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Schuechl, Minneapolis and Mrs. Lena Weitl of Munich, Germany; three brothers, Charles Uttendorfer of Milwaukee, Michael Uttendorfer of Seattle, Wash. and Louis Uttendorfer of Lynbrook, N. Y.; 24 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Arthur and Gilbert Berghammer, Harold Fiedler, Eddie Schreiner, Bernard Schmitt and Edward Gierl.

Relatives and friends attending the funeral were Mrs. Carl Eckert and Charles Uttendorfer, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shorey, Schofield; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Berghammer and Mr. and Mrs. John Berghammer, Rochester, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Berghammer and Mrs. Cecelia Wittenbel, Woodland, Wis.; Mrs. Norman Hader, Hartford and Mrs. Marie Scheuchl, Minneapolis.

Elmer was born Oct. 31, 1917, in Wausau to the late Herman and Elizabeth (Kohnhorst) Tesch. On Jan. 25, 1947, he married Lauretta Krohn at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Wausau. She preceded him in death Sept. 6, 1992.

Elmer served in the Medical Corp for the U.S. Army. He fought in World War II, including the Battle of the Bulge and the Eurpoean African-Middle Eastern Campaign. Elmer earned several medals, including Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star. He was a member of both the American Legion Post No. 492 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post No. 8895. Elmer was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church prior to his illness. Before retiring in 1979, Elmer had worked for the village of Rothschild.

Elmer is survived by eight sons, Eugene Tesch of Wausau, DuWayne Tesch of Honolulu, Hawaii, Terrance (Jeanette) Tesch of Wausau, Gordon (Rocio) Tesch of Rota, Spain, Dale (Diane) Tesch and Robert (Karen) Tesch, all of Wausau, Michael (Mary Jo) Tesch of Schofield and William Tesch of Schofield; five daughters, Kathleen Loveless of Schofield, Judith Reely of Angola, Ind., Cheryl (Kevin) Sigmund of Colfax, Joyce (Daniel) Adamski of Rothschild and Penney (Daniel) Christianson of Schofield; 32 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one sister, Edith Borth of Wausau; three half-sisters, Ruth, Carol and Alice; and two half-brothers, William and Roger Tesch. He was further preceded in death by one grandson, Isaac Sigmund; one son-in-law, Phil Loveless; one sister, Esther Shorey; and four brothers, Hilbert, Arnold, Melvin and Alfred Tesch.

Elmer had great honor for God and his country. He was a loving father, grandpa, friend and neighbor. For many years, Elmer enjoyed gardening, mowing lawn and raking leaves. He also enjoyed visiting his friends at local nursing homes, always helping others when needed. Elmer always will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his faith in God, his smile and these values he left behind in his children. He will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, neighbors and all those that came to know him.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. The Rev. Woodrow Baumgartner and Mr. Steven Keller will officiate. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park with full military honors performed by American Legion Montgomery Plant Post No. 10. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Helke Funeral Home and again Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Unit at Kennedy Park Nursing Home, Schofield.

(Kathy) Shorey, Bowler, Darlene Durkee, Tomahawk, and Karen (LeRoy) Stetzer, Greenwood; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lorraine Colcord, Marie Czerwinski and Marcella (LeRoy) Tasche, all of Wausau; and other relatives and friends. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mark Catholic Church, Rothschild. Burial will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter. Evelyn was born July 6, 1917, in the Town of Frankfort. the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Gribowski) Mohr. She married Robert H. Shorey on August 19, 1939. He preceded her in death on October 18, 1993, after 54 years of marriage. She and her husband farmed for many years until their retirement. Her enjoyments included camping, baking, cooking, gardening, embroidery, playing pool with the neighbors, traveling with the gals to Las Vegas and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include three children, Robert J. (Kathy) Shorey, Bowler, Darlene Durkee, Tomahawk, and Karen (LeRoy) Stelzer, Greenwood; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and soon to be great-great grandchild; three sisters, Lorraine Colcord, Marie Czerwinski and Marcella (LeRoy) Tasche, all of Wausau; many nieces and nephews; one Aunt, Martha Christiansen and other relatives and friends. Randall C. [Ninneman] Widstrand, 53, died on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at his home in Reeseville, WI. Mr. Widstrand was born on Jan. 11, 1950, in Wausau, the son of Raymond and Elaine (Ninneman) Shorey. He was married to Lynda C. (Anderson) Ludtke on Nov. 1, 1986, in West Allis. Randy graduated from Thornton Fractional South High School in Lansing, Ill, in 1968, and later served in the U.S. Army. He worked in law enforcement for the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department and also in National City, Calif. Randy was working for Perry-Judd Printing in Waterloo. Singing was his passion. Randy sang and played keyboard in various bands throughout his life. He also enjoyed golf, scuba diving, tennis, softball, bowling and karaoke. He was proud of his leadership abilities and served on various boards and committees. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Reeseville. Survivors include his loving wife, Lynda C. Lynda C. Widstrand (nee Anderson) died Saturday, May 23, 2009, at age 64. She was born July 13, 1944, in Milwaukee.

She is the daughter of the late Lester F. Anderson and Mary Jane Anderson (nee Benson) and stepdaughter of the late Macy Goad. She was united in marriage to Norman Ludtke on July 20, 1963. She then married Randall C. Widstrand on Nov. 1, 1986, in West Allis. Lynda graduated in 1962 from East Troy High School. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Reeseville, where she ran the Sunday School and sat on the Board of Directors. She is survived by her three children, Laura (Jon) Radtke, Diann (Robert) Janson, and Eric (Gale) Ludtke; six grandchildren, Alexander, Danielle, and Michael Radtke, Emily Janson, and Aireyonna and Dustin Ludtke; her sister Kathryn (Alan) Miller; brothers Frederick (Darlene) Anderson, and David (Janet) Anderson. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Randall Widstrand; mother Mary Jane Goad; father Lester F. Anderson; stepfather Macy Goad; sisters, Vicky Anderson and Evelyn Heim; brother-in-law Kenneth Heim; and nephews, Alan Joseph Miller and Andrew Heim. Mary Jane Evelyn Anderson/Goad (nee Benson) Went home to heaven on April 2, 2009. She lived as God's faithful servant to the age of 88. Mary Jane Evelyn Benson was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin on January 6, 1921. She was welcomed to life by her parents Oscar and Gertrude (Mentzen) Benson along with siblings Edward, Clarence, Gertrude, and Ethyl. All preceded her in death. Married to Lester Frederick Anderson on June 18, 1942 they had 6 children: Lynda, Kathryn, Vicki, Evelyn, Frederick, and David. Lester, Evelyn, and Vicki have preceded her in death. She married Macy Golden Goad June 15, 1983 who also preceded her in death. Mary Jane loved God and served Him faithfully through volunteer work in and out of her church. She enjoyed choir, reading, baking, and sewing. She is survived by children Lynda Widstrand, Kathryn (Alan) Miller, Frederick (Darlene) Anderson, David (Janet) Anderson, 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Grandchildren Alan Joseph Miller and Andrew Heim preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Friends of Concordia or the Lutheran Hour Ministry appreciated.

Arthur Rene DeVriendt age 65 of Dryden passed away August 27, 2009.   Arthur is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy DeVriendt; sons, Christopher (Natalee) DeVriendt, Michael (Connie) DeVriendt; grandsons, Joshua and Killian; brother, Raymond (Pamela) DeVriendt; step-sister, Judy (Larry) Perfeto; Also many loving nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by his father, Raymond DeVriendt; mother, Mary Glote; step-father, Fred Glote; Also his beloved daughter, Sheri DeVriendt who passed away at the age of 10.  Arthur devoted over twenty years to the Lapeer County Sheriffs Department.  Eventually he retired after working his way up the ranks to Under-Sheriff.  He was also a member of the Lapeer Area Elks.  Arthur enjoyed his dogs and working in the yard.  He also loved vacationing to Rapid River in the Upper Peninsula.  Most of all Arthur loved his family and spending quality time with his grandsons.   He is one “Big Dog” / “Big Buffalo” that will be greatly missed.  Funeral Service will be held Monday 11:00 AM from Dryden United Methodist Church, (5400 Main St. Dryden, MI).  Rev.
