GEORGE GILBY, 83, TAKEN BY DEATH
George Gilby, 83, who had been a resident of Galveston for two years, died at 10:15 o'clock last night at the home of a son, G. E. Gilby, 1801 18th. He was born in England on Sept. 22, 1852. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. W. F. Cullen of Jarrell, Tex., another son, Ralph Gilby of Dallas; eight grandchildren; one brother, James Gilby of Canada, and other relatives. Funeral arrangements will be announced by J. Levy & Bro. after the arrival of relatives.

Ralph F. Gilby
Funeral services for Ralph F. Gilby, 84, of 521 S. Marlborough, retired supervisor for Western Union Telegraph Co., will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Lamar & Smith Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park. Gilby died here Tuesday. A native of Gilby, N.D., he had lived in Dallas for the last 54 years. He retired from Western Union in 1955. He was a World War II Army veteran and attended Rosemont Christian Church. Survivors: Wife; two daughters, Mrs. Carol Hill of Houston and Miss Opal Gilby of Dallas; two sons, Ralph F. Gilby Jr. of Wilmington, Del., and Lee H. Gilby of Euless, and 10 grandchildren.
Emma Blanche (Banowsky) Gilby died January 31, 1991, in Austin, Travis Co., TX, at age 94. Buried in Laurel Land Memorial Park, Dallas, Dallas Co., TX.

Louanne Wilson Denney, 70, of The Woodlands, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 9, 2008. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 13, at Faith Bible Church, 5505 Research Forest Drive, The Woodlands 77381. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Klein Funeral Home in Magnolia. Interment will follow at Klein Memorial Park in Magnolia. Mrs. Denney, a loving mother and devoted wife was born in Dallas, Texas, to Henry Ernest and Luella D. Wilson on July 24, 1937. Mrs. Denney grew up in Dallas and attended North Texas State College. She blessed all seven grandchildren as well as many family and friends with gifts of her homemade quilts. Mrs. Denney returned to Texas in 2005. She became a member of Faith Bible Church, Bible Study group, The Woodlands Area Quilt Guild and a quilting group in Conroe, Texas. In March of 2008, Mrs. Denney celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary by renewing her vows with husband Norman. Mrs. Denney's battle with the return of breast cancer began after moving to The Woodlands. Her faith and grace during this illness was a testament of her love of the Lord Jesus. She testified daily to visitors of His love and goodness even in times of pain and suffering. She was an inspiration to her family and friends. Mrs. Denney was preceded in death by her parents Ernie and Lou Wilson and sister Amy Sue Wilson Gilby. Mrs. Denney is survived by husband, Norman R. Denney, The Woodlands, Texas; 2 daughters, Deborah A. Gustafson, Thornton, Colorado, and Julie D. Poulton and husband, Sam, Louisville, Kentucky; son Douglas R. Denney and wife Tamara, Scottsdale, Arizona; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter; two sisters, Louise A. Staples, The Woodlands and Dottie W. Carol Gilby Hill
AUSTIN - After spending the day surrounded by her family, Carol Hill ended her courageous battle with breast cancer in the early morning hours of Monday, Feb. 21, 2005. Celebration of life: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bethany United Methodist Church, 10010 Anderson Mill Road, Austin. Interment: Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville. Memorials: For those desiring, contributions may be made in Carol's name to Bethany United Methodist Church or Hospice Austin. Carol was born July 9, 1934, in Dallas, to Ralph and Emma Gilby. She attended Sunset High School in Dallas and TCU in Fort Worth, graduating with honors from both schools and serving as the TCU Homecoming Queen in 1954. It was at TCU that she met her husband and soulmate of 49 1/2 years, Ray Hill. The family would like to thank Dr. John Sandbach, Lisa Painter, and the entire staff at Texas Oncology Center and the staff of Hospice Austin for their loving care of our wife, mother and grandmother.
