OBITUARY

MRS. MARY L. ARMSTRONG

Mrs. Mary L. Armstrong, a resident of Newcastle since 1944, passed away Oct. 29 in the Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville, after about a year's illness which was borne cheerfully. Mrs. Armstrong was an inspiration to all those with whom she came in contact. She was 88 at the time of her death. Mrs. Armstrong was born in Hope Township, the daughter of Oliver and Elizabeth Abbey, April 28, 1864. In 1907 she married Charles Henry Armstrong and moved to Moose Jaw, Sask. She returned to Ontario in 1917 and resided in Toronto until 1944 when she moved to Newcastle where she made her home until her death. Mr. Armstrong predeceased her, also five brothers and four sisters. Mrs. Armstrong was a member of the United Church. Funeral service was held on Oct. 31 from the Northcutt & Sith Funeral Home, with Rev. Lawrence Turner, Newcastle, officiating. Pallbearers were: Messrs. C. Cowan, Herb Gilmer, Fred Blackburn, W. E. Beman, Wrightston Wight and Frank Hoar. Interment was in Newtonville Lakeside Cemetery. Friends from a distance who attended the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Armstrong, Misses Elva and Edith Warwick, Brussels; and Mrs. A. Summers, Toronto.


Richard Reid Armstrong died May 9, 1977, at a local hospital, Moose Jaw, Moose Jaw Census Division, Saskatchewan, Canada, at age 85. Buried in New Moose Jaw City Cemetery, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada.

ARMSTRONG - Mr. Richard R. Armstrong of Brittania Park, Moose Jaw, passed away in a local hospital on Monday, May 9th, 1977, at the age of 85 years. He was born in the Tuxford district, and has resided in this area most of his life. He had also farmed at Keeler on a homestead with his father, married the former Matilda Klashinski in about 1934 at Marquis, moved to Moose Jaw in about 1943 where he had been working at seeveral occupations, retiring in 1951. Predeceased by one son, Frank, he is survived by five daughters: Mrs John (Cecelia) Komperto, Lundbreck, Alberta; Mrs. Rick (Elizabeth) Alcock, Vancouver; Mrs. Max (Annie) Melville, Calgary; Mrs. Bill (Mary) Evonochko, Richmond, B.C.; Mrs. John (Evelyn) Gruell, Regina; ten sons: Richard, Moose Jaw; Philip, Moose Jaw; Ralph, Calgary; Walter, Calgary; Robert, Crestwynd; Clarence, Calgary; Louis, Calgary; Albert, Northern Alberta; Cecil, Moose Jaw; Edward, Moose Jaw; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at the W. J. Jones and Son Chapel on Thursday, May 12th, ay 10:00 a.m. Reverend Father Michael Weagle will officiate and interment will follow at the Rosedale Cemetery.


Matilda "Tillie" (Klaschinski) (Scheveck) Armstrong died February 16, 1985, at her home, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, at age 79. Buried in Saint John's Cemetery, Marquis, Saskatchewan, Canada.

ARMSTRONG - Mrs. Matilda (Tillie) Armstrong, of the Moose Jaw  (Brittania Park Area), passed away at her home Saturday, February 16, 1985, at the age of 79 years. The former Matilda Klashinski was born at Humboldt, N.W.T. in 1905 and had resided later in Keeler and Moose Jaw areas. Tillie was first married to Joe Scheveck in 1923. Mr. Scheveck passed away in 1932 and she again married in 1933 to Richard Reid Armstrong, who also predeceased her in 1977. Mrs. Armstronmg was predeceased by a sister, Kathleen in 1984 and by step-sons as well: Frank Armstrong and Albert Armstrong. She is survived by six children and eight step-children: Richard (Betty) Alcock, Vancouver, Max (Annie) Melviulle, Claresholm, Alberta, Bill (Mary) Evanochko, Delta, B.C., John (Evelyn) Gruell, Caron, Cecil Armstrong, Brittania Park; step-children: John (Cecelia) Komperto, Caroline, Alberta, Richard Armstrong and Phillip Armstrong, both of Moose Jaw, Ralph and Walter Armstrong, Alberta, Robert, Crestwynd and Louis, Alberta; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at the Catholic Church of Our Lady, 566 Vaughn Street, Moose Jaw, Tuesday, February 19, at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Father S. Ripplinger will be the Mass Celebrant. Interment will be made at the Marquis Cemetery. Prayer Services will be held at the W. J. Jones and Son Chapel, Moose Jaw, Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. Evening prayer service parking on the east side of the Funeral Home. Memorials for the Church of Our Lady Memorial Fund, 566 Vaughn Street would be gratefully accepted by the family.
