He is the son of Anders "Andrew" Gullicksen Střa of Hovlandseie, Hovland, Sigdal, Buskerud, Norway, and Maren Kristine "Mary" Andersdatter of Skatvedtfosse, Sigdal, Norway. Joy Shong comments: The name Střa is the last farm they lived on in Norway. In Norway it is more of an address than a last name. Many Norwegians don’t list the farm names with the name, but in the address in their genealogy. There is a group on the Family Tree DNA site that now recommends including the farm the person was born on, or another farm they lived on, with the name to make it easier to identify the correct person. It’s not certain Gullick was born on Střa. In the Sigdal document under the green heading “Gullick Anderson’s Ancestors, look at Anders Gullickson, Gullick’s father. Look at the dates they were on the underlined farms. Gullick was born in 1847 and Střa wasn’t purchased until 1848. Gullick may have been born on the farm Vad.
