Margaret MacDonald-Gilby was well liked by her family. Jim MacDonald, son of James, Margaret's youngest brother reminisces; "I remember auntie Margaret well. When I was about 4 or 5 we moved to Chicago and we stayed with them. There wasn't much work here (Minneapolis area) and I think my dad thought he could get a job there. We moved back here about 6 months later. Margaret was a sweet little 'old' lady! A lot like her mother. Even sounded like her. She was a neat person - very warm and friendly. They lived in a duplex on Chicago's south side, before it was the rough neighborhood it is today. The daughter, Janet and husband lived on one side of the duplex and Margaret lived on the other. Son Bud, (Frank Jr.) just got out of the Navy when we were there. I was pretty small at the time. But, in later years, I got to know Bud well. He was the funniest person I will ever meet in this lifetime!! At the time, Bud, in his Navy uniform didn't impress me much, but, seeing my son in a Navy uniform sure did!!"

Margaret immigrated from Scotland with her parents and siblings on the ship Numidia, arriving at Ellis Island Sept 24, 1903.
