Delia H. Polansky was born July 8, 1871, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wood Co., WI, and died April 4, 1940, at Waupaca Hospital, Waupaca, Waupaca Co., WI, at age 68. Buried in New Rome Cemetery, New Rome, Adams Co., WI. She is the daughter of Herman Polansky of Germany, and Mathilda/Katherine "Cathrine" Frank of Germany.

PIONEER CALLED BY DEATH

C. Anderson Called

Christian Anderson. Friday evening, Sept. 13 at eight o’clock, at his residence in this city, Christian Anderson passed quietly from this life after an illness of about four months following a paralytic stroke. Deceased was born in Denmark, Nov. 28, 1836 and June 30, 1857 was united in marriage to Miss Johanne Nelson. Six children were born of this union, two of whom died in childhood. June 1, 1870, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson with their family, immigrated to America and have resided in this city or vicinity since that time. An aged widow, one son, A. F. Anderson of this city, two daughters, Mrs. Carl Jensen and Mrs. Gus Lewis, besides twenty-three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren survive. Mrs. Lars S. Larson, who died in this city two and a half years ago, was also a daughter of deceased. On June 30, 1907, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson celebrated their golden wedding at which nearly all their descendents with their immediate families were present. The funeral which was very largely attended, was held Monday afternoon at two o’clock at Our Savior’s Lutheran church, of which church deceased was a charter member, Rev. J. P. Naarup officiating. Six of the grandsons, Charles, Fred and Oscar Larson, Albert and Irvin Lewis and Walter Anderson acted as pall bearers. The interment was in Lakeside cemetery.


On May 21, 1914, Katherine Antonsen and her four daughters sailed from Copenhagen, Denmark aboard S. S. Hellig Olav, after visiting her father, Kreslin Ponsen, in Randers, Denmark.

MRS. JULIANNE LEWIS

On Saturday, November 10, Mrs. Julianne Marie Anderson Lewis passed away quite suddenly, from heart failure and Waupaca lost a devoted mother and her church a willing worker and helper. Mrs. Lewis, nee Anderson, was born at Sjolland, Denmark, June 3, 1858, coming to this country and to Waupaca when she was twelve years of age, and lived here most of her life. In March 1876, she was happily married to Gustave Lewis who survives her as do nine of her ten children. Those surviving being Albert, Irvin, Phillip, Mrs. Edith Lear and Miss Clara Lewis of this city; Edward and Henry of New Leipzig, N. D., and Elmer of Tacoma, Washington; Reuben of Waco, Texas. She also has eight grandchildren. Reuben had enlisted for the war and is stationed at Waco, Texas, but is home at attend the funeral of his mother as are Edward and Henry; the other two boys finding it impossible to get here. Mr. Lewis who has been employed in North Dakota, for two years, also came home, but was too late, however, to see his wife alive. Mrs. Lewis was a devout Christian, a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and an able worker in the Ladies' Aid Society. She was also a member of the W. C. T. U. and of the Red Cross. Her death leaves a great void in the home where her children mourn and the sympathy of her many friends are with the bereaved. The funeral service was held on Tuesday from the home at 1:30, and from Our Savior's Church at 2 o'clock, the Rev. J. P. Naarup.


Johanna (Nelson) Anderson died 1918 in Waupaca, Waupaca Co., WI, at about age 86. Buried in Lakeside Memorial Park, Waupaca, Waupaca Co., WI.

Waupaca, Wis. - John Antonson, tailor, who lived here for the last twelve years was found hanging in his shop late Friday night by the chief of police who gained entrance by breaking in the window. The reason for the deed is not known. The deceased is survived by wife and four children. The wife requested a search be made when Mr. Antonson did not return to his home Thursday and the shop was closed Friday.

Shiocton - Word has been received here of the recent marriage of Leslie Budd of Iola to Miss Betty Antonsen, daughter of Mrs. Catherine Antonsen of Waupaca. The wedding took place at the Central Methodist church in Detroit, Mich., April 7. Mr. Budd was formerly a resident of Shiocton. They will make their home in Detroit, where the bridegroom is employed.

HURD, SELMA, 102, of Belleair, died Tuesday (Nov. 12, 2002) at Mariner Health Care of Belleair. She was born in Waupaca, Wis., and came here in 1952. During World War II she worked as a secretary and was a homemaker. Survivors include five grandchildren, Barbara Kronenwetter Nyberg, Belleair, Susan Kronenwetter, Marshfield, Wis., Kathleen Kronenwetter, Sunnyvale, Calif., Nancy Kronenwetter and Debra Absher North Carolina; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Gulf Breeze Cremation & Burial Society, Largo. Belleair Bluffs.

Leslie R. Barnes, 74, of Huntley, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield following a short illness. Leslie was born August 6, 1937 in Michigan, the son of Curtis Edward and Bengta (Antonsen) Barnes. He served his country in the United States Navy and then the Marines. He met his wife, Carol E. McCaffrey when he was stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Base, they were united in marriage on June 28, 1958 in Glenview. The couple made their home in Glenview, Palatine, Crystal Lake and more recently, Huntley. He had owned and operated C-Less Grinding & Mfg. located in Lake In The Hills, retiring at the age of 70. When his children were young, he enjoyed coaching his sons baseball teams, he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, photography and had a great passion for cooking. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Carol of Huntley, his children, Diane (Scott) Glait of Buffalo Grove, Susan (George) Stephen of Anna Marie, Florida, Bob (Laura) Barnes of Crystal Lake, Ed (Michele) Barnes of Wilton, Connecticut & Katie Barnes of Bartlett, 15 grandchildren; Sarah, Megan, Nicole, Elizabeth, Anne, Christopher, Benjamin, Kathryn, Emily, Michael, Rachel, Hannah, Will, Cole & Jacquelyn & 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Alver & Toby. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5th at DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be in Windridge Cemetery, Cary. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
