Nichwander was born March 6, 1900, in Freeport, Stephenson Co., IL, and died April 2, 1973, at Beloit Memorial Hospital, Beloit, Rock Co., WI, at age 73. Buried in Town of Rock Cemetery, Afton, Rock Co., WI. She is the daughter of Frederick William Nichwander of Illinois, and Katherine V. A. "Catherine" Beverly of Freeport, Stephenson Co., IL. Evidently Suffered Fainting Spell: Gas Fatal Freeport. - Frank Stueck, 44, 21 East Monterey street, was found dead in the garage of his home late yesterday by his wife, Catherine. Carbon monoxide is believed to have caused his death. An inquest will be held tomorrow. When Mrs. Stueck left home at 2 P. M. to go to the Freeport business district, her husband told her that he intended to install in their automobile a battery which was being charged. She found his body lying across the front seat of the car at 4 P. M., when she returned home. The battery was on the running board of the car. Mr. Stueck had been subject to fainting spells, and it is believed that he fainted while working on the car. Officials said the garage door probably closed before Mr. Stueck recovered and carbon monoxide from the automobile filed the building. A stick which propped up the door was found on the ground. The wife of the accident victim returned home at the request of her mother, Mrs. Lizzie Lamb, who was unable to locate Stueck. Stueck visited John Beverly, brother of Mrs. Lamb daily at a local hospital, and Mrs. Lamb went to the Stueck home to request him to deliver a message to Stueck for Beverly. Born in Germany, Stueck served with the German navy during the World War. He was married eleven years ago in Chicago. The family move to Freeport about a year ago. Besides his widow, he leaves a daughter, his mother and several sisters. The 1940 U. S. Rodau, of Beloit, died Monday in Beloit Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She was born March 26, 1900, in Freeport, daughter of Fred and Catherine (Nishwander) Beverly. She married Ben Rodau in Beloit in 1944. Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Norma Armstrong of Beloit; a son, Ben of Napa, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; a brother, LaVerne Herbig of Freeport; and a sister, Mrs. Harold (Pearl) Henze of Rockford. She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Rosman, Uehling, Kinzar, Cranston Road Chapel, with burial in Afton Cemetery.
